Amsterdam's Red Light District: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Description
Amsterdam is famous around the world for its liberalism, but its Red Light District is often thought of as a haven for looseness, lewdness and licentiousness. On this self-guided GPS audio tour, you'll look beyond the drunken tourists and you will find a vibrant, living neighbourhood, in which the roots of Dutch tolerance and pragmatism can be found and in whose contrasts the concept of “gedogen”, the uniquely Dutch method of turning a blind eye, is clearly on display. Join us on an exploration of this fascinating area and learn about its past, present and future as it struggles, like the rest of the city, to deal with the recent influx of tourists. This tour contains sexual themes, but that's what you were secretly hoping for, right?! The tour is ready whenever you are and the audio plays automatically at exactly the right time and place using your smartphone's GPS and the VoiceMap mobile app, which also works offline. Please be advised, this tour contains strong language.

Zeedijk or sea-dike is a former dike or flood protection wall, most likely built around the 1100s to protect Amsterdam’s early population from the raging tides of the sea.
Depending on the time of year Nieuwmarkt Square might be empty, or there may be a market taking place, or maybe even a carnival. Nieuwmarkt is a hotspot for today's hipsters.
Belle was made by Dutch artist Else Rijerse by the request of Mariska Majoor, the founder of the Prostitutes Information Center. The statue’s aim is to engender respect.
The first wooden church built at the site of de Oude Kerk in the 1200s was replaced in 1306 by a brick structure. Today the main hall remains, whilst other parts have been added throughout the centuries.

Nice tour, great to do for an hour. Fun facts are told and you see places you would otherwise walk past.
Very informative walking tour. The audio provided very clear walking directions with visual cues. I would recommend.
It was my first self guided tour, and I loved loved loved it! You can do it at your own pace, the information is presented clearly (some of the information might be a little outdated, though), the directions are easy to follow, and downloading is simple (although I would recommend to do it when you’re connected to Wi-Fi, it didn’t work otherwise). I would highly recommend this tour!
We didn’t see the what we thought. The speaker was good but would have like to see more but not sure what
Hi there, I'm sorry that you felt underwhelmed by this self-guided tour. The attractions you pass by on this tour are all listed on Viator. I'd like to understand better what you thought you would see - because all the attractions you pass by on this tour are clearly stated on the product. It sounds like you wanted to see certain sights not included in the product listing, but from your review, it also sounds like you're not exactly sure what you wanted to see. I'd like to better understand this as it isn't clear to me what you mean. Please could you email us at support@voicemap.me so I can understand why this didn't meet your expectations?
Easy to use, didnt matter if we took longer than normal dor the tour, it was self paced which was refreshing. Full of interesting facts about the area.
The guided audio tour was exactly what we were looking for. Allowed us to walk on a guided path while listening to the guide and actually being able to hear what they were saying.
Best way to tour the Red Light District. Excellent tour, the guide was informative, easy to understand, and very entertaining. I got so much more out of this tour than simply walking around on my own - especially as live tours of the area are no longer allowed. The app was easy to use and very helpful for directions. I really liked how it could be paused and replayed and was tied to my actual physical location; the audio for each segment started automatically as I reached each stop. I liked it so much I did another tour on a different subject and will use the app again in other cities.
We did a few of the self guided tours while in Amsterdam and this was by far the most engaging , informative and interesting. We learnt a lot and had fun doing so . Would recommend it for sure ! Great value for money !
The tour went quickly. There was general information about the district and stops along the way. The app was good and worked off GPS so I could have my phone I pockets.
very easy to use, clear and precise instructions. Better than a guilded walking tour. Would definitely use again.
