Itinerary
Let’s begin the tour with your local guide next to the iconic Amsterdam Central Station, where the beauty of Neo-Renaissance architecture meets modernity. Hear about Amsterdam's origins, right where ships once anchored. The following route is just a suggestion, as this is a tailored tour (in advance or along the walk).
The oldest street in Amsterdam: Explore the vibrant Zeedijk, once the city’s dike, now a cultural melting pot where centuries of maritime history meet modern life.
Enjoy a moment of tranquility with a breathtaking view of the canals while listening to the incredible stories that unfolded there.
Discover the fascinating history of the Red Light District, far beyond it’s reputation, with it’s medieval past, secret churches, historic architecture, and the progressive 60’s and 70’s spirit.
Discover hidden courtyards in the old town and narrow alleyways, where the tales of sailors, merchants, and Amsterdam’s evolution as a port city will be revealed to you.
Explore the history of the square, from the city’s medieval origins and World War II to its dynamic present. The Nieuwe Kerk (site of royal coronations) and the Royal Palace will offer you a glimpse of the Dutch monarchy, as your guide reveals its rich history and the secrets of its royal occupants.
Discover the architecture of the Dutch Golden Age: Stroll past the iconic canal houses and learn more about their significance during Amsterdam’s Golden Age.
Discover the charm of the Jordaan: Wander through Amsterdam’s most picturesque neighborhood, filled with hidden courtyards and street art, invisible to the unfamiliar eye. The center of events that would forever change the course of Dutch history.
If you feel like it, we can take a break in one of the oldest cafés in the city, learning about the cultural significance of the famous brown cafés in the Netherlands and many other anecdotes!
A local expert guide exclusively at your service: I will share exclusive stories and valuable insights, tailored to your interests, ranging from historical tales to personal family stories.

Chris was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. We always take private city tours when we travel and would highly recommend this one. He also shares a handy link with restaurant recommendations. As if you needed another reason, booking here with Chris supports small business. He was a guide for a company for several years and decided to start his own business a few years ago.
Great information about Amsterdam with knowledgeable guide. We got to see a lot of the city center with great information.
Thanks, Jennifer!

Great visit to the centre of Amsterdam with a French guide. Anecdotes about the history of the city, presentation of the different neighborhoods and links for shopping, restaurants, bars and more. A must for French tourists who want to know more about the history of Amsterdam.
Un grand merci ! C'est toujours un plaisir de faire découvrir Amsterdam en français.
Very good visit with lots of very informative information and anecdotes about the beautiful city of Amsterdam
Un grand merci, Pascal ! Heureux que vous ayez trouvé la visite à la fois instructive et agréable.
Wonderful experience with Chris. We learned so much about the fact of the city and the country of Netherlands.
Much appreciated, Anna!
We had a wonderful tour guide, and he was very informative with a lot of interesting information. However, I would have wanted to get more history of the city and the country, rather than details that we’re unnecessary, such as How Much Sex Workers, charge or pay for rent.
Thank you for your review! I include certain topics as they are frequently asked by visitors and help provide context and understanding. I try to always tailor the content to the audience, and I truly appreciate your feedback.
Friendly and professional, Chris was kind enough to give us a very complete list of addresses on many themes. We were able to test some of them, it was perfect. Recommend warmly.
Merci beaucoup pour votre message ! Ravi que les adresses vous aient plu et que vous ayez pu en profiter. Au plaisir de vous revoir à Amsterdam !
Essential visit , alive and bored about the history of Amsterdam which was "a momentous moment of the world ". We learn a lot in 2 hours with a beautiful iconography and anecdotes. An exciting human, commercial and architectural story told on site by a friendly and passionate guide , the present is not forgotten because the story continues ... My two teenage girls (who were never bored) and I had a very rewarding time. I recommend Christian who, moreover, is not miserly of his time. Thanks again to him.
Merci beaucoup pour votre message ! C’était un plaisir de partager ce moment avec vous, et ravi que chacun y ait trouvé son intérêt.
