Sean was a really good guide gave good and interesting overview of Amsterdam. Would recommend to first time visitors
Our guide, Sean, was personable, candid and very knowledgeable. We walked the city center, making stops at historical as well as general human points of interest. This was a very good introductory tour and helped familiarize us with the city center. We highly recommend this 2 1/2 hour tour!
Shawn was entertaining and knowledgeable. He told us so much about Amsterdam- history, current life & everything in between. The time went too fast.
Fantastic tour! Sean knew so much about the city & was a great guide. Highly recommend booking this tour on your first day in Amsterdam to get a better understanding of the city!
Even though I've been to Amsterdam before, I still learned so much from this walking tour. The guide was a very informative American who has lived in the Netherlands for decades. The entire group was actually American coincidentally. The group was 7 guests + 1 guide. I don't think a tour should be any larger since the streets can be crowded making it hard to stay together. I'd highly recommend a walking tour of most cities if you are new to a location, and this one was among the very best!
Sean gave us a brief but very insightful introduction about Amsterdam’s urban development. And guided us through many historical buildings, restaurants, and landmarks. This left us a very memorable impression about Amsterdam.
Our tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable, it was a laid back stroll through the city highlighting alot of interesting things, would definitely recommend
Shawn was an absolute awesome guide. He was knowledgeable, personable and very kind. We enjoyed every attraction and opportunity to walk and see where the locals eat and enjoy their time.
Great introduction to Amsterdam. Sean was great… quite knowledgeable about the history of Netherlands.
We recently took a walking tour of Amsterdam, and while the city itself is always a stunner, the experience wasn’t exactly what we had anticipated based on the tour description. The Highlights The pace of the walk was easygoing, and it was nice to be out on the canals. If you’re looking for a very informal wander without a lot of dense information to process, this style might suit you. Points for Consideration • Historical Context: We were hoping to dive deep into the origins of Amsterdam and how the city was formed. However, the commentary was quite light on history and focused more on the guide's personal observations. • Cultural Commentary: The guide shared a lot of his personal frustrations regarding European culture and corporate habits (like the "meetings about meetings" trope). While everyone is entitled to their opinion, it felt a bit out of place for a sightseeing tour and skewed a bit negative. • The Canine Co-Guide: The guide brought his dog along for the walk. While the pup was sweet, he did frequently bump into members of the group. More importantly, having a pet meant we couldn't enter most buildings or historical sites, which limited the "insider" feel of the tour significantly. Summary Overall, it felt more like a casual walk with a local acquaintance than an educational tour. If you are looking for a deep dive into Dutch history or want to see the interiors of or learn about Amsterdam's famous landmarks, you might find this specific tour a bit limiting.
Fair enough but I did mention at beginning that if you wanted more history I’m happy to oblige because most my groups don’t want historical details. Only other comment I have is we never go inside shops and buildings I thought you might like to see the church as you were a group of two. I thought it would be nice to let you see the interior. I thought it was a bonus. never had this gesture so misinterpreted. Sorry your experience was different
