Itinerary
The Munttoren is a tall, slender tower with a clock and a decorative spire. It has a historic, Dutch Renaissance style with a mix of brick and stone. Located at Muntplein, it was once part of a city gate and later used for minting coins. This is where you will start your culinary journey around Amsterdam!
The Flower Market in Amsterdam is a floating market on the Singel canal, famous for its vibrant stalls selling flowers, bulbs, and souvenirs. It’s a colorful and iconic spot in the city. In a colourful shop nearby, you will start your culinary journey with a delicious cheese tasting. Local products only!
Let's continue with 2 staples of Dutch and Amsterdam cuisine! At first, indulge on a hearty portion of fries (of course with a lot of sauce on top!) and then try some herrings, the most traditional fish in the Netherlands!
The Anne Frank House is a historic museum in Amsterdam where Anne Frank hid during WWII. It’s a narrow canal house with a secret annex, now a museum preserving her story and diary.
Have a stroll around the famous canals of Amsterdam, that made this town gain the nickname of "Venice of the North". And after that, have a seat in an adorable restaurant and try one of the most beloved main dishes in town: beef croquettes!
The Red Light District in Amsterdam is a famous area known for its red-lit windows, nightlife, and historic canals. It’s a mix of tourism, entertainment, and Dutch liberal culture. Please, notice that the Red Light District will be included only in case of adult-only tours.
Let's finish our culinary journey with the most iconic Dutch dessert: Stroopwafels. The perfect way to end our tour on a sweet note, in one of the most famous squares in town: the iconic Dam Square!

We had an incredible food tour in Amsterdam with our guide, Todd, who is originally from Wisconsin and has lived in the city for 13 years. His deep knowledge of both Dutch culture and American perspective made the experience especially engaging and easy to understand. Our tour began with a walk through the vibrant flower market, followed by a stop at Henri Willig for some outstanding cheese. From there, we sampled a classic Dutch specialty—herring—which Todd explained in a way that made it approachable even for first-timers. We also enjoyed traditional Dutch fries with a variety of sauces, which were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights was Melly’s Stroopwafels, served warm right out of the oven—easily a favorite moment of the tour. We wrapped up the experience at a cozy local pub, which was the perfect ending. Throughout the tour, Todd pointed out key landmarks, shared fascinating insights, and patiently answered all of our questions. He also made sure to stop frequently for photos, which we really appreciated. His ability to interpret cultural nuances from a fellow American perspective made everything more meaningful and easy to follow. I would highly recommend this food tour with Todd—it was a perfect blend of great food, local history, and excellent company.

What are the most important things we learned was the walking, biking, car, and tram etiquette so we didn’t get run over, ha ha . Todd was exceptional as a tour guide. We enjoyed each of our meal stops. The cheese, herring, Melly’s StroopWafels, fries with sauce and lunch were all outstanding. Great value for the money. Todd was so informative with knowledge of Amsterdam and the heritage.
Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) loved this food tour + Amsterdam history walk with Todd! He was the best. Very engaging and we especially loved the herring. Sign up for this tour with Todd- you won’t regret it!
