Amsterdam 90-min Private Canal Cruise with Live Guide and Drinks

Description
This private cruise lets you explore Amsterdam from a small, open boat. Just you, your group and your guide. The route adapts as you go, so you can spend extra time where you like, whether under the Seven Bridges or along the quieter Jordaan canals. Your guide will point out details like the leaning Dancing Houses or the spot where Monet painted. There’s room for questions, or simply watching the city go by. In the evening, the canals reflect the streetlights and the usual bustle fades. You might pass houseboats with lit windows or hear the occasional bicycle bell in the distance. It’s a slow, unhurried way to see the city, with space to take it all in.

Itinerary
Cruise through the narrow, winding canals of Jordaan, a neighborhood known for its artistic spirit and village-like charm. Here, 17th-century homes lean gently over the water, bridges arch gracefully and hidden courtyards tuck behind the canal houses. It’s a quieter, more personal side of the city often overlooked by visitors but beloved by locals.
Glide through the heart of Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canal belt, one of the best-preserved 17th-century canal systems in the world. Your guide will point out the grand merchant houses, share tales of the city’s Golden Age and explain how these waterways shaped Amsterdam’s identity. This is where history and daily life flow side by side.
Sail along the most prestigious stretch of the Herengracht, where the wealthiest merchants of the Dutch Golden Age built their grandest homes. The opulent facades and stately mansions here reflect a time during the height of Amsterdam’s trading power. Even today, the Golden Bend remains one of the city’s most impressive sights.
Pass under the iconic Seven Bridges on the Reguliersgracht, a well-known sequence of arches that capture the essence of Amsterdam. This is one of the most photographed spots in the city, and for good reason each bridge frames a new perspective of the canals and the life that unfolds along them.
The Amstel is Amsterdam’s original waterway, where the city’s story began. Today, it’s lined with a mix of historic landmarks and modern architecture, offering a glimpse into how the old and new coexist here. Your guide will share stories of the river’s role in shaping the city, from its medieval origins to its place in Amsterdam today.
Spot the whimsical Dancing Houses, a trio of leaning buildings that seem to sway along the water’s edge. Their playful, off-kilter charm is a reminder that even in a city known for its precision, there’s always room for a little unexpected delight.
Drift past the very canal where Claude Monet set up his easel in 1874, capturing the light and life of Amsterdam in his paintings. The canal still feels recognisable today. Houseboats bob gently, bicycles rest on bridges and the same soft light plays on the water.

Book this tour if you want to see the authentic Amsterdam from the best viewpoint. Best guide, best boat, best trip! One word: AMAZING!!
My wife and I only had one day in Amsterdam. We booked 2 activities. Anne Frank Home and this private canal tour. Deep was the Captain of the vessel for us. He welcomed us and offered beverages. He then proceeded to navigate the canals as only an experienced and passionate could both navigate and discuss. He answered each of our questions as he pointed out so many interesting facts all along the journey. He was early for our meeting and delivered us back to the same location in exactly 90 minutes. Thank you Deep for your kindness, skill in navigating, and knowledge!!!
Thank you so much for your excellent review! We will pass this onto Deep so he knows what a great job he did. Hope to welcome you on the canals again sometime!
What a wonderful experience. Skipper Paap was informative and provided a delightful tour. It was relaxed and just what we needed for a Sunday afternoon visiting. Highly recommend!
Thank you for the excellent review! We greatly appreciate it, and are happy you enjoyed yourselves and the experience.
What a great experience. Lucas picked us up right on time and was an incredible skipper. He talked to us a little before the ride started to get a sense of our interests and took us to a couple places he gleaned would be special, like the bridge shown in the show Ted Lasso. Kids loved the diversity of soft drinks available. We had another museum outing scheduled after the ride and he dropped us off closer to where we needed to be than the starting point was. Boat was very clean and quiet (electric). I would highly recommend this private canal cruise for a group or family (particularly one with small kids). We would absolutely fo this again with Book A Tour Amsterdam. Finally, we originally scheduled our tour on a Friday. Because of a flight cancellation from our home country we would not make our originally scheduled tour. The company change our date and time per our request without any charge. That really meant the world to us and shows the character and positive business practices this company espouses.
Thank you very much for the excellent and detailed review! Much appreciated, and we hope to welcome you on the canals again in the future.
We really enjoyed our experience. The company helped us find a nearby pizza place which we enjoyed on the boat. The ride was very safe and relaxing, with the captain being super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!

Our skipper was Alex and he provided a great experience on our canal cruise. Lots of information and pointed out so many beautiful buildings and boats as well. Learned a lot, had a relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed the cruise.

Awesome experience, could not have been better. Lucas was an amazing guide
Thank you so much for the review and touring with us! We'll let Lucas know what a great job he did.
We had a great tour with our friendly and informative guide Paap. He was kind and patient and simply had good energy. My 12 year old thought he was very cool. We stopped at a local street market that was not too touristy and we learned a bit of Amsterdam history that we didn’t know. It was simply a good time with a nice quiet boat, beverages and a good tour guide.
Thanks so much for your excellent review! We greatly appreciate it and hope to welcome you again on the canals sometime.
