Almaty Jeep Private Full-Day Tour: Kolsay, Kaindy & Charyn Canyon
Description
Your private adventure begins at 5:30 AM with hotel pickup in a comfortable 4x4 SUV. Drive through Kazakhstan's scenic countryside to Kolsai Lake, where you'll have free time to explore and take photos. Enjoy an optional lunch overlooking the lake before continuing to the famous Kaindy Lake. From the parking area, it's a 15-minute walk, or you can take a local UAZ shuttle or horse (extra cost). In the afternoon, visit the breathtaking Charyn Canyon during golden hour for unforgettable views. Optional safari shuttle available inside the canyon. Return to Almaty around 8:00 PM. Feel free to ask your guide to take photos—we'll be happy to capture your memories! Optional extras: lunch, horse ride, UAZ transfer, and canyon shuttle.

Next, we’ll drive to Lake Kaindy (15 min by car). From the parking area, it’s an easy 15-min walk to the lake. If you prefer not to walk, you can ride a horse or take a UAZ vehicle (2000 tenge).
At 6:00 AM, a comfortable jeep/SUV will pick you up directly from your hotel, and we’ll head to Kolsai Lake. The drive takes about 4 h (approx 300 km). Along the way, you’ll see steppe landscapes, mountains, and authentic village life.We’ll spend a couple of hours at the lake. Lunch is optional at Tary, offering panoramic views over the water.
Explore the dramatic Black Canyon near Charyn National Park, known for its dark volcanic rock formations, steep cliffs, and panoramic viewpoints. Travelers will enjoy short walks along the canyon rim, breathtaking photo opportunities, and stunning views over the winding river below. Your guide will share interesting facts about the canyon’s geology, nature, and the surrounding landscapes of southeastern Kazakhstan.
After that, we continue to Charyn Canyon (100 km, 2.5 hours). We’ll arrive just in time for sunset. Enjoy golden hour views from above and take a ride in an improvised safari vehicle (1,800 tenge). The drive back to the city takes about 3 hours. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel around 8:00 PM. Optional extra costs: horse ride, UAZ transfer, restaurant, safari vehicle. Feel free to ask your guide to take photos — we’ll be happy to capture your memories!

You will be picked up in a comfortable jeep or SUV. Complimentary hotel pickup and drop-off are included within Almaty city. Your guide will contact you via WhatsApp one day before the tour to confirm the exact pickup time and meeting details. Please be ready in your hotel lobby or at the entrance of your accommodation 5–10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. Travelers staying outside the city center may be offered an alternative meeting point or an additional pickup surcharge.

Great day. The organization beforehand and on-site was flawless. Nikita was a fantastic, experienced guide and was able to expertly answer our questions about Kazakhstan, its culture, and landscape. The sights were excellent. Because he knew the times when there were few people at the attractions, it was never overcrowded. At the end of the day, he showed us a restaurant with local dishes (a hidden gem). Highly recommended. By the end of the day, one is tired and exhausted, but very happy.

We just had the most amazing day on a private jeep tour from Almaty to Kolsay, Kaindy, and Charyn Canyon and honestly, it was wow from start to finish. Such a great day spent with our guide. We were picked up here at our hotel bright and early and taken to a quick stop for breakfast. Drove 3 hours straight through the bare terrain of Kazakhstan to Candi Lake then onwards to several other jaw dropping canyons and rivens. We counted ourselves lucky having met our guide who was not only professional efficient and knowledgeable, but also very friendly and kind. On top of diving all day to each location, which was hard work in and of itself, our guide took beautiful candied pictures of us without us needing to ask. All from the sidelines.. which was a very thoughtful gesture! Everything went smoothly. We felt very safe and comfortable, which is very important when visiting an unfamiliar place. 10/10 would recommend friend and family.
