Itinerary

We begin our tour from Osaka Castle. It’s one of the most iconic spot of great historical significance in Osaka. We’ll traverse the park grounds, too, all the while talking about the history, architecture, and significance of the spot. Historically, the castle’s reconstruction has been somewhat indifferent, and we would recommend considering other options instead. Trust us. We spend about 75 minutes here.

30 min

This area is known as Koreatown, celebrated for its exquisite yakiniku (grilled meat enjoyed at the table). However, we invite you to explore deeper. Tsuruhashi is a fascinating maze of small shops, food stalls, and restaurants, presenting an architecturally striking mix. Let us delve into the hidden history of Osaka together.

30 min

Tennoji is home to the impressive Harukas, the tallest non-tower building in Japan, standing at 300 meters. This remarkable height offers stunning views of the surrounding area. While we in Osaka have heard about a tower in Tokyo that reaches biblical heights, we prefer to focus on our own attractions. We will not ascend to the very top of Harukas, but we will go high enough to enjoy a breathtaking view of Osaka, free of charge. On a clear day, we may even glimpse all the way to Kobe and beyond. We highly recommend taking a guided tour of the department store food hall, where we typically spend about half an hour exploring.

30 min

Fun for all ages! This area retains the charming old-world streetscape of Osaka. You can enjoy games, food, and fashion (perhaps heavily skewed toward the eye of the beholder), along with the unique atmosphere that defines Osaka. Don't forget to visit the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower and immerse yourself in the lively, heartfelt spirit of this city. Our typical visit here usually lasts about 30 minutes.

30 min

Most likely, you will spend some time exploring this area on your own, so on our Osaka walking tour, we typically allocate around 30 minutes here. However, if you have a keen interest in visiting Kuromon Market, which, although quite touristy, offers an impressive selection of high-quality food items, we would be happy to accommodate that. Alternatively, you may want to explore Doguyasuji, our restaurant supply district. This area features not only wax food models and large pots but also a variety of goods that cater to everyday needs. If you’re looking for one of the region’s famous kitchen knives, this is an excellent place to find one. You will also discover a wide array of Japanese ceramics, teacups, chopsticks, and similar items here. Otherwise, we will guide you through some charming backstreets around Hozenji Yokocho, before proceeding to Dotonbori itself.

Osaka’s History, Humor, and Street Food

On this tour, we were able to learn deeply about Osaka’s history, culture, and the daily lives of its people. Our guide, Kensuke, was full of Osaka-style humor and made the experience so enjoyable. The traditional Osaka street food we tried was also absolutely amazing!

Wonderfully informative tour, with an expert and humorous local tour guide.

We travelled as a trio group on our first ever trip to Japan and our final stop was Osaka. We wanted to end our journey with a good impression, and thus, booked this tour that we saw listed on Booking.com. At first, we were wary, not knowing how the experience will be... But then we were met with the most kindest, humble and humorous tour guide, Tomoki. He was very caring and amiable throughout the whole tour, entertained our tourist antics and answered every question of ours with detail. As per the itinerary, we walked from Osaka Castle, to Osaka Tsuruhashi Ichiba, to Abeno Harukas, to Shinsekai and finally Dotonbori, Namba. The tour was overall very informative and was the perfect way to end off our trip. Once again... Thank you Tomoki (Tom) for being such a wonderful tour guide and we hope to see you again soon!

Thank you Tomoki

I joined this tiger with my friends and took some good photos. Tomoki knows a lot of good spots for taking photos because he is a native and local Japanese guide. Thank you for the best time.

Thanks to Tomoki-san – A Memorable Osaka Journey

I joined the tour with my wife. It was the perfect experience to learn why Osaka Castle, a symbol of the city, stands where it does — along with the history, culture, and spirit of the Osaka people. Thank you to our guide, Tomoki-san!

Unforgettable memories!

An amazing tour that let us efficiently visit all the must-see spots in Osaka. Our guide was a knowledgeable local Japanese who knew Osaka inside and out, so we requested all the places we wanted to visit—and we were able to see everything! It was such a fulfilling experience that it’s hard to believe it was only four hours long. Thank you for the unforgettable memories!
