Itinerary
Recently voted the number sixth best beach in Australia by Tripadvisor, Mooloolaba Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches on the Sunshine Coast.
Flanked on one side by the ocean and the Mooloolah River on the other, Point Cartwright is a stunning beach, located at the base of the headland at the northern end of Kawana Beach. See the iconic Point Cartwright lighthouse and ocean themed mural-painted reservoir.
Alexandra Headland has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere that complements the soothing rolling surf and inviting beaches. Alexandra Headland's main attraction is its magnificent coastal frontage of beach, headland and parks extending for kilometres north and south.
Old Woman Island (or Mudjimba Island) is located 1km off the coast. There are a number of Aboriginal legends abound about the Island. One has it, the Island was the result of an epic battle between two men, Coolum and Ninderry, and a woman called Maroochy. The end result was that Coolum's head was knocked off and ended up in the ocean, creating Mudjimba Island. Mount Coolum, seven kilometers to the north, is now flat topped due to the lack of a head! There are various other legends involving Aboriginal women living on the island until old age, hence the "Old Woman" name.

Beautiful sunshine day of whale watching on 7th August 2026. Nice slow paced trip out of Mooloolaba River mouth to race through the waves and discover pod after pod of whales all travelling south. Thank you to Skipper and Sandy for an exciting morning being amongst the whales frolicking along our coast line.
Great experience. While it was late in the season for whales we were lucky enough to see several whales. I went out twice - 2 days apart. First trip came upon the whales immediately. Second trip it took some time but the tour operators went out of their way to find whales for us.
Old mate the skipper found the whales straight away and was very pleasant to listen to with a deep understsnding about whales
Amazing trip we saw some whales breaching lots of tail flapping and the crew were fun friendly and we learned so much . Great small fast boat , I will go again next year ! Thanks team ♥️
We could not recommend Jake and Jake (the skipper and deckhand) enough. They are very professional, giving us a safety talk before we left and ensuring everyone was comfortable, which they continued to do throughout the trip. They lent me a spray jacket which was helpful, although the weather was so lovely I didn’t really need it. We saw both whales and a pod of super cute dolphins, but even if we hadn’t, it would have been a great trip. Jake, the skipper was very knowledgeable about all things whale and a great “driver” too!
This is a must do experience, great way to spend a few hours! We were lucky enough to see two hump back whales, plenty of tail slapping. The crew were excellent and very safe! Thanks guys!
Super cool experience to do. The sea was rough so we got a bit nauseous. But they took that into account. Captain was very friendly and his deckhand very helpful. Found the spot with the whales. Super nice to see.
We were lucky enough to see whales breaching, with beautiful calm water . Tour guides were lovely and very informative! Thoroughly enjoyed our experience!
We joined the whale watching tour with high hopes, as this was the main reason we travelled to the Sunshine Coast. Unfortunately, we didn’t see a single whale during the trip. We completely understand that nature is unpredictable and sightings can’t be guaranteed. However, it was disappointing to learn that there is no policy in place for a second chance or partial refund, as some other tour operators offer. When you’re marketing a tour specifically as a whale watching experience, it’s reasonable for customers to expect at least some form of goodwill gesture when no whales are seen, especially for those who travel specifically for this activity. The crew was friendly and the boat was comfortable, but overall we left feeling let down.
Crew was an absolute 10/10, made sure everyone had a good time. We saw loads of whales and even a calve, Will deffo recommend to my friends!
