Had two amazing adventures with Belize Caving Expeditions. I did the famous ATM cave which was an extra extraordinary experience, like nothing I’ve ever done before. I also did a full day tour of the Xunantanich ruins followed by cave tubing which was equally spectacular and lots of fun! All the guides were excellent, the vehicles were comfortable with air-conditioning, included lunches were delicious and I would highly recommend any tour with this company.
This was an intense and amazing experience. Our guide, "Uncle Patrick" was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with our 9 year old. He knew the history and the wildlife inside and out. This was definitely a core memory day for the whole family.
Exceeded our expectations in every way! This tour is great for people who are physically fit enough to hike, swim and do moderate rock climbing—it’s a true adventure! There’s a 40-minute hike to the cave entrance from the parking area and you cross a river 3x before arriving and jumping into the chilly cave water. You will get wet from head to toe by the end—we wore shorts and t-shirts and sturdy tennis shoes with socks (required to access the Maya artifacts). Shout out to our guide Akim who was AWESOME—so friendly and funny and shared so much historical information with us about the Maya and Belize. Lunch afterward was hearty and filling. An experience we won’t soon forget!
Patrick Warrior was an experienced, knowledgeable and kind guide who made me feel very comfortable and safe. The site was great, but Patrick made it brilliant!
Rosa was an amazing tour guide; incredibly competent, knowledgeable, and supportive. She was able to get us through ATM cave safely and respectfully, providing expert commentary along the way. She knew about the history, geology, and each foot/hand-hold. ATM was a major highlight of our trip, due in large part to Rosa. Thank you so much!!
The ATM cave is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my entire life. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone. Swimming through the water and squeezing through the formations was so fun. The culture in the history behind it is incredible. Every single person who visits needs to do this. The only reason for four stars is because the driver the company hired was so painfully slow. Not even kidding you he went 5 mph. We were passed up constantly and this slow driving delayed our arrival time both to the cave and back in town.
We went with Reggie and had the most amazing experience! He was very nice, and knew a TON about the artifacts, along with the geology in the cave. Highly recommend!!
Totally worth it. Glad we booked the early morning group.
Great tour with Gliss. We went on the 7am tour and had a great time. He explained lots of things during our route to the cave. The sights of the skeletons and pots are incredible. My most important suggestion: do not wear water shoes. It's a 30 minute walk to the cave. The path is flat, yes, but when you get to the cave you walk on plenty of rocks and having sneakers with good soles helps a bunch. Also, it's good to use pants if you're clumsy, as you might scrape a knee. Lunch was also good, with nachos, rice and beans, salad and roasted chicken. I recommend this tour.
This tour was mind blowing. Francisco was the best guide ever. He was beyond knowledgeable and is from a Mayan heritage. He shared many personal stories from what his grandmother taught him. He kept us safe in the cave and went above and beyond to give us the best experience possible. Beware that this tour is not for the timid. The lunch was delicious and a huge portion. We were picked up at our hotel and delivered back at the end. I can't say more than National Geographic said about the cave. "It is the best in the world".
