Pass by

Aros Viking Settlement which lies beneath the city. We’ll visit the spot where Aarhus began — a quiet but powerful reminder of its 1,200-year-old roots.

Admission not included30 min

Aarhus Cathedral is Denmark’s oldest and tallest church, right in the city center. If it’s open, we’ll step inside to see its medieval murals, grand organ, and the peaceful atmosphere that’s filled this space for over 800 years.

Pass by

Aarhus Theatre is a beautiful old building with golden details and stained glass — it’s still the city’s main stage today. We’ll stop outside to admire its Art Nouveau style and hear a bit about its role in local culture.

5 min

Hotel Royal has been hosting royals, rock stars, and politicians for over 180 years. We’ll stop to admire its grand facade, peek at the mosaic floor inside if we can, and share a few stories from its glamorous — and sometimes surprising — past.

Pass by

KØN – Gender Museum sits in a former city hall and explores how gender roles have shaped Danish society. If time allows, we’ll stop by to talk about its unique focus — from women’s history to modern conversations about identity.

Pass by

The Occupation Museum is housed in the old police station used by the Gestapo during WWII. It’s a powerful and sobering place where you’ll see how the Nazi occupation affected everyday life in Aarhus — right where it happened.

Pass by

Oluf's Gate is one of the oldest streets in Aarhus, with crooked timbered houses and a quiet charm. It feels like stepping back in time — a hidden corner that shows what the city once looked like.

20 min

The Latin Quarter is Aarhus’s oldest neighborhood — full of cobblestone streets, small boutiques, and cozy cafés. It’s a great place to soak up local life and see how history and modern city life blend together.

20 min

Aarhus Is Full Of Colorful Street Art if you know where to look. We’ll pass by a few striking murals painted on building walls — bold, creative works that give the city a modern edge and tell local stories in unexpected places.

15 min

Møllestien is one of the most photographed streets in Aarhus — a narrow lane with cobblestones, roses, and colorful old houses. It’s a quiet little escape that feels like stepping into a storybook.

10 min

The Old Library is a grand, yellow-brick building that once held the city’s main book collection. Today, most people walk past without noticing its past — but we’ll stop and take a moment to appreciate its quiet history and striking architecture.

10 min

Aarhus City Hall was designed by famous Danish architects and is known for its marble facade and striking clock tower. We’ll stop outside to take in its clean, modern lines and hear how it stirred up debate when it was first built.

This was an excellent walking tour. David covered the local sites with excellent information. Saw the interior of two churches, had fantastic descriptions of the art work around the city and capped off with a great vista of Aarhus. Even had s delicious stop for a pastry. A very enjoyable tour.

A great way to see and learn about Aarhus. Highly recommend!

Aarhus is a very incredible location in Denmark and it gets even better when you know the history and local tid-bits of the culture and interesting places of interest. David, our guide, was great! Very informative and open to learn more. I loved the curiosity and willingness to share the broad knowledge he holds of Aarhus. We got know about the neighborhoods and buildings as well as great spots to eat and check out after the tour. I highly recommend doing this tour. Sundays, you will not be able to enter the cathedrals however.
