St. Joseph’s Cathedral (Vietnamese: Nhà thờ Lớn Hà Nội) on Nha Chung (Church) Street, is the oldest church in Hanoi. This was one of the first structures built by the French colonial government in Indochina when it was first opened in December 1886 and completed in 1888. In spite of the long wars that destroying major parts of Hanoi, St Joseph’s Cathedral is still in good condition. Today, it becomes a historical attraction in Hanoi which remains the image of the beauty of the old Hanoi. The Church makes an impression on travelers by its ancient beauty of the bustling capital.
Ngoc Son Temple is popularly known as the Pagoda of Jade Mountain and is located in the Hoan Kiem lake. It is guarded by two towering posts decorated with Chinese writing. The temple was built in the 18th Century in honour of General Tran Hung Dao. One of the most highly visited temples of Hanoi, this Jade Mountain Temple lies in the Hoan Kiem Lake and is connected to the shore by a scarlet bridge. The view of the temple surrounded by the lake is certainly among the best in Vietnam. The scarlet bridge adds an inimitable element of color and contrast to the green lake and blue sky
The Old Quarter is an intriguing neighbourhood, home to a mix of Vietnamese architecture, green spaces, ancient shops and fresh-as-it-gets street food — all of it easily explored on foot. You’ll be rewarded with delicious food, hidden alleyways, secluded pagodas, and cosy coffee shops!

I did the A Taste of Hanoi Private and All Inclusive Street Food Experience with Vietnam Forever Vacation in March 2025, and it was such a fun solo adventure. The guide felt more like a local friend super friendly, knew all the best hidden food spots, and made the whole thing feel really relaxed and personal. We tried so many delicious things bun cha, banh mi, sticky rice, egg coffee, you name it. Everything tasted amazing and totally different from what I’ve had before. I loved that it wasn’t just about eating, but also learning about the stories behind each dish. It’s perfect if you’re solo and want to dive into Hanoi’s street food scene without the stress of figuring it all out yourself. I left full, happy, and with some great memories. Would 100% do it again!

My boyfriend and I had an incredible experience on the private, all-inclusive A Taste of Hanoi Street Food Experience with Forever Vacation in February 2025. This tour was the perfect way to explore Hanoi’s rich culinary scene, tasting everything from savory pho and banh mi to sweet egg coffee. Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Vietnamese cuisine. They took us to the best local spots, some of which we never would have found on our own. The tour was well-organized, with a great balance of flavors and insights into Hanoi’s food culture. If you love food and want an authentic taste of Hanoi, this tour is a must. Highly recommend.
