We start at the Ramsay House and discuss the origins of Alexandria, Virginia. William Ramsay was a Scottish merchant and good friend of George Washington. He was one of the founders of Alexandria. This first stop contains one of our favorite hidden gems. Hint: It's hiding in plain sight!
Travelers will discover where the American Revolution was born. No kidding! Twenty years before the Revolutionary War started, events were in motion that would lead to the American colonies declaring independence.
We will stop outside Gadsby's and talk about its connection to early American presidents. We will also see the famous ice well!
The story of the famous Spite House will be told. We will see the famous house and make sure guests can take pictures!
Discover where George Washington went to church in Alexandria. You can even sit in his pew.
We will pass by the Athenaeum as we walk down Prince Street and head toward Captain's Row. There is an abundance of fascinating sites along the 200 block of Prince Street. Beautiful homes that have stories dating back to the 18th century.
One of Alexandria's classic cobblestone streets. Fun and fascinating history to include one of Alexandria's largest fires. We will discuss why it is called Captain's Row. This will be the last stop on the tour and we will take pictures and be close to great restaurants!

Very interesting tour with a lot of history. Our tour guide was Jeff was so knowledgeable and showed us so many early pictures of buildings. The church had to be my favorite place. Just loved it!!

Our tour of Alexandria was charming, fun, and fascinating. Jeff was an excellent tour guide, keeping us in the shade, taking us through nearly-tangible historic events as we walked the same streets as Revolutionary patriots, the Founding Fathers, and Civil War soldiers. Old Town contains layers and layers of human experience; Jeff brought it to life with historic photos, fun trivia, terrific stories, and a stroll along the lovely streets of the city.

How lovely & knowledgeable our tour guide was❣️Being a Virginian, I thought I knew the historical facts about the area. Nevertheless, this local guide brought history to life with her accounts. Showing us visuals along the route added to our understanding of what a significant part the splendid Old Town Alexandria area played in history.

We started at a location that was easy to find - the visitor center - and the walking was pretty easy, so good for all ability levels! Our tour guide was wonderful - she really knew her US and Old Town history - from before the first European settlers arrive through Revolutionary and Civil Wars and to current day!

Highly recommend this walking tour of Old Town Alexandria! Tim was very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the history of Alexandria. He was engaging, provided great stories, and we all learned so much from him. He also was extremely responsive to my emails and helpful with restaurant recommendations in the area. He is a great guy! Showed up late for this walking tour on a blustery morning in Alexandria. Our guide Tim caught us up and never missed a beat. He's full of historical anecdotes and brought the past alive. He added some time at the tour's end to show us additional sights. We ended in a perfect location for lunch in Alexandria's historical center.

These folks are the reason you find the local tour companies. John was absolutely wonderful, navigating a group with mobility concerns and our chatty infant without a hitch, in the heat. Beyond his knowledge of the town and local background, he made sure everyone was comfortable, finding shade, and even rerouting the tour a block to make sure a group could make their bus and to toss in an extra story. We learned so much about the history of the town and the people who helped define it. A well rounded tour and spectacular guide. I would absolutely take another tour with this group.
