A day in St-Émilion and its Castles in private tour (Van Luxe)

Discover with your local guide, the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. You will be seduced by this stroll through the pedestrian streets of the village of Monk Emilion, and by the beauty of this heritage. Learn the history of the castles of the Pomerol appellations, and the Jurisdiction of Saint-Émilion. Live the passion for the vineyard of their founders, descendants and new passionate owners. Learn more about the different classifications of the Bordeaux vineyard, and about the different winemaking techniques. During the day, you will visit three Châteaux of different appellations around Saint-Émilion. Each visit will conclude with a tasting. Photo stops can be made in front of some of the biggest names in the vineyard, such as Château Ausone, Château Angelus, Château Cheval Blanc, or Château Petrus, in Pomerol.

First Castle: Chosen with you, according to your preferences. Guided tour of the technical facilities and cellars of a prestigious classified Grand Cru. Tasting of great wines from the property. Things to do such as cooking classes, food & wine pairings, or tasting old vintages can also be included. Tours and tasting fees are not included in the tour, and will be at your expense.
You can stroll through the medieval village of the monk Émilion. The village located at the top of a hill, offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding vineyards. You will be able to appreciate the architectural richness of this heritage, which combines constructions made from the 11th century to the 21st century. You can admire the beauty of the hilly landscapes, covered with some of the most famous vineyards in the world. You will not resist taking out your cameras to keep a memory of these enchanting panoramas.

Pickup Locations & Times
Your Guide will pick you up and drop you off in front of your place of residence in Bordeaux center. The pick-up location can be set after your Reservation. We also offer pick-up in Saint-Émilion. At the end of the tour, your Guide will drop you off at the place where he picked you up. Once your Reservation is made, we will contact you to finalize your program based on your preferences This tour/activity is private (e). Only your group will participate.

Catherine Caquelot and her team are experienced and compassionate tour guides. We used them for our three days in Bordeaux. They picked us up from the airport in a Mercedes small van which we used all four days and drove us to our Airbnb. Catherine and I had previously discussed the three days we would drive around the chateaux and the city of Bordeaux. She was very helpful in helping us choose our itinerary. Each day was beautifully experienced by us. The first day we went to the village of St. Emilion and three chateaux. Each had a different historic significance. We had a delicious picnic at one of the chateaux. The second day we toured Bordeaux. Anais, our driver and guide gladly accommodated our specific requests. We had a delicious lunch. The third day we went to Medoc where we visited two chateaux and a boutique chocolate maker. We chose to omit the third chateau offered. We had a picnic at the chateau Larrieux which has always been owned by women since the 1500’s. On the fourth day, they took us back to the airport. I highly recommend Aquitaine Limousine if you are visiting Bordeaux and the wine chateaux.
We had a lovely day with Hugo as our guide. Exploring the Chateau Fonplegade was not only educational but stunningly beautiful and ending with the charcuterie and wine pairing was icing on the cake. Hugo was informative and accomodating.

Beware of what is included. The tour is expensive, approximately $900, and we were advised on the day of the tour that we needed to pay an additional 400 Euros for the wine tastings. This left a bad taste in our mouth.

We had a wonderful day in St Emilion and had wine tasting at 3 private wineries with Katherine. She had a very good knowledge about the area and made the journey super special.
This was anticipated to be the highlight and even the main purpose of our visit to Bordeaux and Catherine our guide made it absolutely so. She picked us up at our hotel in her lovely Range Rover, stopped off for a special local treat from the bakery en route and gave us lots of information about the history of the area and the appellations as we went. We visited 3 wineries each quite different from the others but all very interesting and worthwhile. The first one was especially lovely with a tasting of 5 wines inside the chateau. At the second and third , we saw the harvest in full flow as well as tasting more delicious wine. Between the first and second we had a lovely lunch in a restaurant just outside St Emilion which was delightful. Just a brilliant day, superbly organised and executed by Catherine. We would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting a private tour experience.

Fabulous, flexible, exclusive, beautiful, historic, accommodating - we had two little kids and two elderly— was very accommodating and customized experiences so children had a great time with games and puzzles and things to do at the wineries. Thank you Catherine!

Our group of 13 (8 adults and 5 kids) took two tours during a weeklong visit to Bordeaux. One day to Saint Emilion and one to Medoc. Our guide, Margaux, was absolutely fantastic. Our group needed a lot of accommodations for the meals because our group included young kids and vegans. Margaux made sure everyone had delicious food to eat and the lunches on the tour days were some of the best meals we had in France. She also made sure that the kids had a place to hang out while the adults were learning about and tasting the wine. Margaux also accommodated our requests throughout both days including particular châteaux we wanted to see and adapting the tours so that we weren’t getting repeat information at each location. Margaux and our driver, Rashid, were patient with our large group and made both days a lot of fun. I would absolutely recommend tours with this company!
