Communication with the limousine company was very good starting a few days before the trip. Our driver, Hugo, was wonderful and provided good local history, and he clearly has expensive knowledge of the area wineries and wine making. We enjoyed the variety of wineries that we visited. My only recommendation is to spend less time at the restaurant for lunch and allow more time for walking around Saint Emilion. Lunch lasted over 90 minutes and we only had about 30 minutes to walk around St. Emilion.. The atmosphere and food at the restaurant were outstanding, but I would’ve preferred to have more time in St. Emilion to walk around more. Perhaps the limousine company could ask the participants their preference regarding having a fancier sit down lunch out in a vineyard restaurant versus lunch in town. The tour guides at both Château Franc Mayne and Beauregard were lovely and entertaining. The older gentleman who poured wine at a small Family winery that we visited at the end of the trip was also funny and very pleasant.
Winery visits were great and we were introduced to cellar door staff and had individual tastings. Hugo our guide was fantastic and informative and arranged an additional tasting which we really enjoyed. We were taken to a winery restaurant which was a memorable visit. The vehicle was first class and would definitely recommend this tour if you enjoy wine.
Dear Nick, Happy to read your review and Hugo was very happy to share with you his knowledge. It will be a pleasure to see you again. Thank you!
Ok, the St Emilion area is a wonderful wine region to visit. The winery’s we visited were very nice. We didn’t go to any of the wineries advertised so I wonder about that. The main issue, and this was my fault for not reading the fine print, was that for nearly $800 I was not expecting to pay 45-50 euro extra for each of the three tastings. Our driver was very good and professional and took good care of us.
Dear Steve, I can understand your surprise, however, as you mentioned it, it is clearly stipulated that the names of the castles given are for example only, and that visits in the chateaux are not included. The fees are paid directly to the chateaux and we don't make any profit on that. That is a choice for not to be influenced in the selections of the places visited, to be sure the selection will be only driven by the quality of the visit and the quality of the wines. Your chauffeur/guide is not only a driver and gave you explanations about the vineyards and the chateaux throughout your day. That has been a pleasure to drive you around the vineyard.
Our guide, Catherine, was exceptional. Not only did she select 3 very different & unique chateaux tours- beautiful vineyards and great wines, she also choose a gorgeous restaurant with garden dining for lunch. She was very knowledgeable about the entire Bordeaux region so the driving portion was filled with conversation. Catherine, the chateau guides and restaurant staff spoke very good English and all were conscious of schedule. We highly recommend this private tour and Catherine.
Thank you for your review. It was great to share with you a nice day in the vineyard!
Catherine is an amazing tour guide through the Bordeaux wine region. The luxury car for the tour is very comfortable and Catherine had some local snacks and information about the wine and classification for us to consume on the way. After finding out how interested in viticulture we were Catherine organised for us to meet with the technical director at chateau Fonplegade and we were able to spend extra time in the vineyards. Each chateau we visited was unique with different wine styles but all exceptional quality. We stopped at a beautiful restaurant called 'The Garden' which was nestled in some beautiful french countryside and the service and food was excellent. On the way home we visited Saint Emilion and the town is amazingly beautiful. This was an absolute highlight of our trip and we would highly recommend anyone doing this tour.
Thank you Ben!
Catherine and Margaux were both extremely accommodating before and during the event. They made sure the itinerary aligned with our timelines and made plenty of suggestions to help make our experience great! Margaux really helped in explaining the area and making sure we had all our questions answered all in a very personable manner. It truly felt like we were just with a local friend and not a tour guide. It was a great time and we would highly recommend!
Thank you Jacob. We are very happy that you enjoyed your wine tour with us. Hope to welcome you again in Bordeaux. Catherine
What an amazing tour. The wineries the best and our tour guide Benoit is fantastic. He is very knowledgeable about the wine, wineries and food of the . He is a fabulous professor, teaching more than I have taken in some professional wine classes.
Thank you!
My fiancé and I had a wonderful time exploring the wine country of St. Emilion with a knowledgeable tour guide (Benoit) who was a winemaker himself from the Medoc region. Each of the chateus we visited were unique and beautiful in their own way. The chateau staff were all welcoming and accommodating, and we learned so much about this beautiful region and its history of wine making.
Thank you!
