This was a highlight of our entire Peruvian vacation! Alonso is an amazing guide who taught us so much about food in Arequipa as well as the city itself. We were honored to meet him and experience this delicious food. Thank you Alonso for an unforgettable experience!
After booking direct with the tour operator and paying 490 USD which they confirmed they had received was told I would get a confirmation email. I never did so messaged them and called them numerous times to ask them to send the confirmation again. They said they had but they hadn't. My group went to the meeting point today at 13.00 and there was no guide and we received no communication from the company. They still are ignoring my calls and have changed their profile picture.... all very strange.
Dear Emma, Thank you for your feedback. It appears this review has been posted on the wrong business. We have no record of any booking or tour valued at USD 490 under our company. All of our scheduled tours on that date operated normally, and we did not receive any reports of guides failing to attend the meeting point. We kindly ask that you verify the tour operator with whom the booking was made and update the review accordingly. Have a nice day! Manuel
We had a fabulous afternoon with Alonso who is an excellent guide. Make sure you go hungry as there is course after course and we ate pretty constantly for 3 hours. Went to the market then to a number of different restaurants, all interesting and all delicious. Our group tour was just the two of us! Highly recommend.
I have done many tours and have never had a tour operator not show up and not respond to voice and text messages. We paid in advance and did not get a tour. I’ve requested a refund from Trip Advisor and suggested that they no longer do business with Food Tour Arequipa. Very unprofessional!
Dear customer, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience. However, after reviewing our records, we could not find any booking matching the details described. All of our tours operated as scheduled, and we did not receive any reports of guides failing to attend or of communication issues on the date mentioned. For this reason, we believe this review may have been posted on the wrong business. We kindly ask that you verify the tour operator involved and direct your feedback to the correct company. Have a nice day! Manuel
We had a wonderful tour with Alonso. We needed a vegetarian and regular food tour and he did outstanding! Lots of information, history and culture. He was great with questions and suggestions and would highly recommend for fun and amazing food tour!
The worst tour ever. The guide, Alonso, was racist, rude, uncommunicative and unprofessional. From the meeting point we had to walk half an hour to a market. He srode ahead the whole time, not talking to us. When we arrived at the market I complained about thwctour so far and he threw a tantrum and cancelled the tour. Neither the local company nor Viator was willing to give a refund. A complete waste of money. I have never used Viator since.
Alonso was an excellent guide to the food of Arequipa. Each stop was filled with history, interesting facts, and several funny stories. We were so full by the end of the tour we didn’t even have dinner. Highly recommend!
Turned up on time like everyone else, only to be told the tour was cancelled - this was 5 minutes after the tour should have started and only after I messaged them on Viator. It seems like they are accepting bookings to hold your money, then cancelling last minute. Dont book the tour and waste your afternoon. However, there is a great restaurant next door to the start point called zigzag where you can do your own mini tasting if you insist on booking this.
Tour was canceled last second and I was not even advised by the tour company. I only found out when I received an email from TripAdvisor saying the tour company had requested a refund
Tour was a no-call no-show. Nobody came and I wasn't made aware why. Tried contacting the tour operator but to no avail. Really disappointing
