It was established by one of the Roman emperors himself who settled here to live in one of the most luxurious retirement palace that the world has ever seen. Our guide will meet you at the fountain making introduction and getting to know you better for a start of the tour.
Entrance to famous ancient Diocletian Palace starts from here and before going deeper into history we will learn backround story of when, why and how it originated.
Main square of UNESCO protected roman palace where we check how emperor was using it and what military and servants were accustomed to doing there on daily basis.
One of the four gates. Even though not the main entrance, very important function it had and we will discover how much of it is still there and for what it was used for.
Ancient roman had their religious expressions and when it comes to emperor himself he devoted an entire building to one of the Gods. Entrance is not included and guide will give tips and tricks and guests can visit afterwards if they decide to do so.
Roman mausoleum or church? Which is it and why there is gigantic cat guarding it - we will find out on the tour. Entrance is not included but guide will give a details and guests can visit afterwards.
Contrasting to ancient part of the town, this newer but still old middle-aged part has secrets of it's own.
Most of the tour we will be spending inside of Diocletian Palace, and all the other parts of the itinirary are happening mostly inside of it.

Mijo provided a fabulous, informative and entertaining walking tour. He is clearly knowledgeable and also provided some local tips and tricks for our stay. He was witty whilst imparting that knowledge and we would give him a 100 recommendation.
Mijo is a very Kind and funny guide with a very good knowledge. It was a perfect balance between historical facts and „nice to know“ facts about foot, people, livestyle and so on. He had an answer on to every question.

We met Mijo this morning at a local park fountain with his trademark green/teal umbrella. We were not sure if this was going to one of the 30 people tour or not. Nope. He only does small group tours, so it felt more like a private tour than the big companies. As a native of Split, and knows the history of his city, he was very informative. He is a very lighthearted affable man, and that shows during his tour. ABSOLUTELY, I would recommend this tour
We were met by Mijo about 10 minutes before we were due to start. Mijo was very impressive from the start. Having lived in the city all his life, he had in depth knowledge and put it across in a fun and understandable way. He was very personable and answered any questions you may have had. He made a number of recommendations as we moved around the city for both day trippers and longer stayers. I would highly recommend this interesting one and a half hours as a great introduction to the city and great value for money, especially as we got a little bit longer than the advertised time as Mijo was keen to cover everything the group wanted to know.
We were a bit apprehensive when we were the only couple on the tour! However, our guide Mijo was so engaging, and relaxed it felt like a personal tour! He was very informative throughout, was passionate about his home city and provided so many helpful tips as we progressed. On these tours the guide can often be somewhat opinionated but not in this case. He even took us to the best spot for photos which he took of us! Would definitely recommend!
We had an outstanding walking tour of Split with Mijo. His knowledge of the city’s history was truly impressive, but what made the tour special was the way he brought that history to life. From Diocletian’s Palace to modern-day Split, he shared fascinating stories, local insights, and historical details in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. Mijo also has a great sense of humor, which kept the entire group entertained throughout the tour. He struck the perfect balance between being informative and fun, making the experience enjoyable for both adults and kids. His passion for Split and its history was obvious in every stop along the way. If you’re visiting Split and want to understand the city beyond what you can read in a guidebook, I highly recommend taking a tour with Mijo. It was one of the highlights of our time in Croatia.
