7-Day Tanzania Private Luxury Safari, Culture & Night Game Drive

Description

This 7-day odyssey is unique for its evolution of movement, shifting you from the luxury of a vehicle to the raw rhythm of the earth. Unlike standard safaris, you experience the wild from three distinct perspectives: on foot at eye-level with giraffes, by pedal across the Manyara plains, and after dark during a rare night game drive to witness the "secret shift" of leopards and porcupines. You aren't just a spectator; you step into living history, from the ancient hunter-gatherer traditions of the Hadzabe to the vibrant Maasai heritages. The journey covers a masterclass in biodiversity—ancient baobabs, groundwater forests, the world’s largest intact caldera, and emerald montane peaks. It is a "slow luxury" tempo that balances the adrenaline of tracking the Big Five with the serenity of waterfall hikes and boutique retreats.

Good overall experience in Tanzania

Fantastic safari in northern Tanzania! Seven days is really perfect for this country, because there is so much beauty. Although we had to get used to the ‘African way’ we have seen that James organizes his safaris well and you always have a contact person to coordinate your trip with (he is super easy to reach if there is something). This trip is highly recommended if you want to see many different animals and go on an adventure. Do: do the walking safari in Arusha, which is really cool and book a tent instead of a lodge if you like adventure;-) We even had elephants walking through the camp. That's an experience you'll never forget. Don’t: don’t book the Arusha Tourist Inn hotel, book Forest Hill Carnival hotel in Arusha. The former hotel is by far the bad hotel we have ever stayed in (atmosphereless, dirty, mega noisy). We haven't slept a wink here, so that's not a nice start to your safari. Polecat will help you book another hotel! Goodluck (our guide) and Isaac (cook) were a top team during our safari week. So we definitely want to mention that. Goodluck managed to take us to the right places with special animals every time and Isaac cooked fantastic for us and provided us with cool Maasai stories! General tip for booking your safari: Almost all organizations book a driver and jeep that are filled with people from different groups. This allows your group to change per day and your program can change on the spot. That requires some flexibility and at those times it is extra important that the organization you booked with has its affairs under control. That’s certainly the case with Polecat, so you know you’ll have seen and done everything by the end of the trip. Oh, and bring your own binoculars. Most cars don’t have them or only 1 for the whole group. All in all a special experience in Tanzania!

Unforgettable experience

I felt completely looked after from beginning to end. I saw amazing things on safari, the food was delicious and the accomodation was great- I was expecting to be "roughing" it a bit with what was described as camping, but even that felt luxury.. My tent was always erected for me without me having to do anything and one of the campsites actually had a proper bed inside the tent and another wild zebras on the campsite which was amazing. I also visited Materuni Waterfalls and Chemka Hot Springs which were beautiful. John, James and Abu their driver were wonderful hosts. John went above and beyond to take my phone to be fixed when it broke, James shared with me local knowledge about the tribes and culture in Tanzania and Abu hooked me up to his internet hot spot and let me choose what music I wanted to listen to during the drive. 2 meals were also included that weren't part of the safari cooked meals and John took me to a delicious restaurant that I was very impressed with. Thank you
