7-Day Kilimanjaro Climb Machame Route

My sister and I both had the most incredible experience hiking Mount Kilimanjaro with Kilimanjaro heroes! They were the most affordable company I could find and everything about the trip was perfect, from the trip logistics by Evarist and Laurent, to our amazing guides Mwinyi and Gloria, to our incredible porters (James, Hendry, and Mondonga to name a few), and our chef Salum who made the best food for us each day!! Everyone was so welcoming, kind, and very experienced, so we knew we were in good hands to make it to the top safely! Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures also organized a coffee tour and waterfall hike the day before our climb, as well as a two day safari after, both of which were awesome (our safari guide Elly was also great). Could not recommend this company more for anyone looking to hike Kilimanjaro!

Only positives! I felt well looked after as each step was organised and they always communicated this with me, both before and during the trip. The staff were so welcoming and friendly that it made my holiday relaxed and very enjoyable. The mountain was stunning and unforgettable.

After contacting several local agencies, the exchanges with Evariste quickly convinced us: efficient, fast, adaptable, detailed and reassuring. And we did not regret our choice whether it was for the ascent of Kilimanjaro by the road machame in 7 days or our safari of 5 days. On the spot it was Mr Laurent who took over and here too, his availability and adaptability helped us a lot. For the Kilimanjaro, at my request we had a guide who spoke French: Johnbosco. He was exceptional, it was a human encounter above all through his encouragement, his attentions, his Swahili lessons, his explanations, his good humor... He did everything to get us to the top, and especially me who had been busy breathing since day two. Our second guide Emmanuel also perfectly framed us of his experience and in music, he adapted the rhythm whenever needed, it was just perfect. Last but not least, the whole team made this experience incredible and achievable, Iddi, Izack, Asiadi, Moses, Charles, Hamis, Adam, Mahamoud, Nelson, Ramadhani, Rajab, Eddyson, Elia, Denis, Juma and Sebastian... Not only is their strength incredible to carry the camp, the food, our belongings but above all they always have the word, smile and attention that makes the experience extraordinary and human. It was a moment of sharing with nature and with a team that put everything in place so that at every moment we had a smile, comfort for rest, excellent meals to regain strength, all to succeed. It was their strength, attention and sensitivity that brought us to the top and vibrated us in this indescribable experience. We thank and recommend Kilimanjaro Heroes and especially this whole team. For the safari again it was a faultless with Jamal, very professional, who knew how to take the time with his expert eye to make us discover this incredible and diverse wildlife in this exotic setting. We had an unforgettable and beautiful human experience. The amazing team that accompanied us was very caring for us. Our guides, Israel and David, very competent accompanied us perfectly. Our cook made us exceptional dishes (3 pizzas during the treck:-)) and our porters were kind and dedicated that touched us in the heart. A huge thank you for that eternal memory. Your smile, spirit, and energy kept me going when things got tough. Your work made everything feel like home on the mountain. And to David – your leadership is truly something to be admired. Your nightly “Dr. David” check-ins made me feel safe and supported, and your encouragement along the way meant the world to me. A huge thank you to Issaya for helping me in town with the pharmacy and bank, and for getting me safely to Arusha. Those roads and traffic were intense and you handled it like a true professional. 9 of us women and men from age 44 to 74 did amazing Kilimanjaro’s Machame route trek late July through Kilimanjaro Hero Adventures and all of us successfully made to the 5895m summit with supports by our guide Emanuel’s team. The team lead by Emanuel Mchome (also know as Ema) with David, Rabert and Hamis, plus the amazing cooking and porters team. We had excellent and skilled chief Chenga who made delicious food everyday. The whole team made us felt safe and comfortable. They encouraged, supported and surprised us in every way they could through out the whole time. I can not thank Ema and the team enough. Certainly will recommend Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures to anyone who plan to visit Tanzania, and if you plan to hike Kilimanjaro definitely should choose the best guides: Emanuel Mchome, David, Robert, and Hamis.

I am truly so grateful for my KiliHero crew. I was a solo traveler, and the team of 7 porters led by my guide Selemani took excellent care of me (I felt like a princess!). It was clear they cared about me and my journey. They wanted me to be successful and enjoy the experience. I have SO MUCH respect for them and the job they do. I felt safe and looked after the whole time. The sleeping bag was cozy, the food was good, the porters were kind, and Selemani was simply the best. I made it to the top because of them!!!

I highly recommend Kilimanjaro Heroes. Great organization, reasonable pricing, and they’re very well-known and reputable in Tanzania. Everything I expected from them was delivered. The organization was excellent, and my wife and I had no issues throughout the journey. The team was highly experienced—from the porters to the two guides, who were always attentive, supportive, and ready to help. The food was also great; they adapted it to suit our usual tastes, which was very appreciated, especially since local food can be challenging for sensitive stomachs. They even prepared pizza and spaghetti with macaroni sauce for us! I truly recommend this group and want to sincerely thank them for making this adventure such a memorable experience.

Really very good company to book with; great guides, excellent food, friendly porters and all-round good service. Our guides were Ngoko and Emmanuel, and they were very good... The only let down, and it felt like a major let down, was the issue of the tips at the end of the hike. We were told by the organiser that tips were not necessary, not expected, and could be given at our discretion. However, at the end of the trip - literally at the final gate when we had a beer with our guides - we were told by the guides that they, the chef, and the other porters were all expecting a tip at the last camp that we left from. We were caught completely off guard as we had no money on us. This left a sour taste in our mouths and was a very large let down for what was an otherwise very amazing experience. Not only this, but the attitude from the guides and porters changed towards us, and it felt awkward for the remainder of the time we had to spend with them. We pulled out 400,000 Shillings for our tip, and we were told this was a VERY underwhelming tip and said our farewells feelings oddly cheated.

Goodluck and his crew went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. This was an unforgettable trip and something I will remember the rest of my life. Hakuna matata!
