Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route with Burigi Chato Safaris wa one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Everyday brought new scenery and new motivation to keep going. Even though this was a budget group joining tour, the level of care from the guides,porters and cook was incredible. Summit night was extremely tough, but the guides never stopped encouraging us. Their support, patience, and positive energy carried us all the way to Uhuru peak. The 6 day Machame Route provided excellent acclimatization and stunning scenery. I successfully reached uhuru peak and would confidently recommend Burigi Chato Safaris to anyone looking for reliable and affordable Kilimanjaro climb via Machame Route!!

The machame route is very scenic and hiking over 6 days allowed us to enjoy without rushing.Our group had mixed experience levels,but the guides adjusted the pace well because communication from the team was clear and helpful,i chose this group hike because it fit my budget and my schedule.summit night was tough for everyone,but the sense of achievement at the end made it worthwhile....Thank you, Burigi Chato Safaris for making our 10 group safari so special and unforgettable climb,to stand on the roof of Africa at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is incredible experience!.

The machame route is beutiful and challenging espicially at a higher elevation the scenery changed nicely each day this 6 day hike was well planned.As joined a group of 10 climbers i was a bit nervous at first,but everyone bonded quickly.The guides checked our health daily and kept motivating us.Summiting night was taugh but the encouregment from the crew got us through.Excellent organization for a budget group climb it pays for its affordabibility.I appreciate Burigi Chato Safaris and all staff members made all expectation come true.

I recently completed a 6 days Kilimanjaro climbing tour with Burigi Chato Safaris, and it was truly one of the most memorable adventures of my life. I joined a group of 10 hikers, and from start to finish, everything was organized perfectly. The entire staff team was extremely friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the mountain. Our guides were not only experienced but also very supportive, always motivating us to push on while ensuring that safety came first. They explained every step of the journey, shared valuable tips, and kept us encouraged even during the most challenging moments. The porters worked tirelessly to carry our equipment, set up camp, and prepare everything we needed always with a smile. One of the highlights for me was how well the group dynamics were managed. Since I was on a budget, joining a group turned out to be the best decision. The tipping process, which can sometimes be confusing, was made simple because all of us in the group contributed equally. This way, it was affordable and fair, and I really appreciated that transparency. The meals provided during the climb were surprisingly good nutritious, warm, and exactly what we needed to keep our energy levels up. Every detail, from the daily briefings to the camp setups, was handled professionally, which made the whole trek smooth and enjoyable. Reaching the summit was a life changing experience, but what made it even more special was the support and encouragement from the Burigi Chato team and my fellow group members. The good stuff: the Kilimanjaro hike itself was great, the Burigi Chato Safaris Co LTD guides, porters, chef all good. The climb was very difficult so be prepared for that - 6 days Machame route is not much time for acclimatization but each day costs money, so you need to balance budget and time with everything else. Areas for improvement: Unless you’ve done a lot of research, you may find yourself booking with an operator like Burigi Chato based on price and TripAdvisor reviews alone and you’ll think yourself clever for having found a good deal. Unfortunately there’s a cost to this. The last night of our trip, the guides cornered us and said that before we leave we are expected to tip the crew to the tune of $15-20 USD per porter per day. There were 8 porters, 1 chef, 2 guides. In addition, any porters who had extra duties were supposed to get another $5-10/day. Plus of course the guides and the chef should get a tip. In total, if you add it up, for 6 days, we're talking $800-960 for porters and then another $350-500 for guides / chef etc. As if we had that kind of cash with us on the mountain! This dynamic was uncomfortable and strange and also the tip amount seemed unreasonable as it basically amounted to a 100% surcharge on the trip price somewhere in the $1200-1400 range, half of which goes to park fees, leaving very little budget to run the actual trip. We tipped as well as we could given our cash on hand, and once we left the mountain I started looking into the whole Kilimanjaro tipping recommendations and porter treatment etc. It’s not pretty. Here’s what it comes down to: if the price is low, it’s probably exploitative. I wish I had had the foresight to ask the guide how much the porters were getting paid so I could better understand the company’s practices but if you do the math it doesn’t look good. Some companies apparently don’t even pay their porters and they’re working on tips alone. Is this the case with Burigi Chato? It could be but I don’t know. The only way to ensure you’re going with an operator that isn’t exploitative is to use a company that is a partner of an organization called KPAP — the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project. Go find their KPAP partners list and check if your company is a member. We’ve asked Burigi Chato for the phone numbers of our team members so we could send them a money transfer to make up for the fact that we didn’t have enough cash on hand to compensate for potential underpayment of staff, but we haven’t heard back from them unfortunately.

I hiked kilimanjaro via the 6 day Machame with a group of 8 and followed with 4 Days Safari. All arranged by Burigi Chato safaris. Burigi chato safaris is the gateway to exptional adventure and provide the most advanced services. We explored vast plains during the safari and made every moment. The tour was real interesting with the vibe of the professionals guide who managed to show us the lions hunting the gazelles, Serengeti migration and all big five in their natural habitat. The food was amazing and the accomodations was incredible no rush and big up to Burigi Chato safaris!
