6-Day Kilimanjaro Trek Lemosho, Machame, Marangu, Rongai & Umbwe

We had an amazing time with the Zanzi family on the Kilimanjaro. Issack, our main guide, assisted by Jumanne, did such a great job by getting us to the summit! Along the route we talked, laughed, sang and smiled, but most importantly, they made sure we got there safe and happy, especially during the summit day. Twice a day we got checked on heart rate, oxygen level and how we felt. During the checkup, we discussed the upcoming day. Issack and Jumanne encouraged us, were always supportive and positive, hakuna matata! We were planning on doing the Machame route in 7 days, but because everything went well, we decided together to do it in 6 days. That was a really good choice and shows that the team was willing to help and do what was best for us. The rest of the crew was amazing too. We have so much respect for the porters, all so friendly and helpful, we came nothing short. From good food, to a prepared tent, conversations about football and all the Swahili words they taught us. The communication before hand was good and clear, we would definitely recommend Zanzi Trekking. Asante sana!

It is one of my best experiences. I went for the 5 days one but I recommend the 6 day one to allow for downtime. March is off season, so has the lowest fees.

I had a great experience with Zanzi Trekking. The organization of my 6 day Kilimanjaro Trek was very good. Gorge was a great guide and the team was really good too. It was the most strenuous thing I have ever done, but the team supported me great and together we made it to the summit. I can recommend Zanzi Trekking if you are looking for a border experience like Kilimanjaro.

Had a wonderful trip, on the beautiful Machame route. 2 days of rain, but the summit was beautiful! I was alone on the booked shared tour, but guide Justin, chef David and the porters made it worth it! Great food, good conversations and good care.

The trip is amazing. The guides George, Omari and Charles are constantly looking out for us every step of the way, making sure we are healthy, safe and having fun. The cook Basili was amazing, the food we received far exceeded our expectations and was incredibly healthy. The porters work so hard and everyone was willing to improvise when our group had to split up due to illness. There is a high tip expectation but boy they earn it.

I had an amazing Kilimanjaro climb with Zanzi! They organized a perfect trip for us on short notice. The hike was led by two very experienced and knowledgeable guides, Justin and Nestory, who supported us every step of the way. They not only helped us complete the hike successfully but also taught us a lot about the mountain’s surroundings, Tanzanian culture, and many other interesting topics we discussed along the way. Their enthusiasm and encouragement played a huge role in helping us reach the summit. Last but not least, the rest of the team also played a key part in making our dream of reaching the summit come true. The team included our talented chef, Dastam, who prepared delicious meals throughout the six days; Lazaro, who assisted during mealtimes, woke us up each morning, and always brought great energy; and Shaibu, who helped us stay warm and motivated on summit day. Of course, we also had amazing support from Peter, Brian, Haji, and Daniel, who helped us navigate between camps and ensured we always had the best possible conditions to rest and recover.

While many believe a large budget is necessary to enjoy this country, the true differentiator is the people, and Zanzi Trekkings and Safaris has an outstanding staff. Our Kilimanjaro climb was flawlessly planned, with every detail considered, ensuring the success of our summit attempt without any risk. They adeptly accommodate trekkers of all experience levels, transforming what could be a challenging endeavor into a truly enjoyable one. Our guide, Charles, along with his two assistant guides, George and Omary, consistently demonstrated remarkable professionalism. They responded to every situation with excellent judgment and effortless decision-making. The entire staff was incredibly helpful and kind throughout our trip. We took the 6 day Lemosho route which was arranged at a very short notice by the team from Zanzi Trekking and Safaris. One dream, one team to the Roof of Africa was truly an unforgettable experience. Right from the meal on the first day to the final goodbyes, the days went really fast. Justin and Nestor, our guides were always there helping us learn more about the culture, tradition and background of the country. The chef Dastan made sure we had nutritious food everyday, every meal before our walks. Lazaro, Omolo, Peter, Haji, Brian, Dani, our porters made sure that we had a smooth experience while we started and finished our daily walks. The summit day was especially challenging for me given the weather, timing and climate. Justin and Omolo pushed me and made sure that I could reach the summit. It was truly an overwhelming experience that the team of guides, chef and porters were working really hard for our experience of climbing Kilimanjaro. It was almost like a family at the end of the hike. Wished we could hike more days with this lovely team!
