Available daily, this small-group experience takes you high up Acatenango in a 4x4 vehicle, followed by a short walk to a cozy mountain basecamp. Spend the night in comfortable wooden cabins facing the constantly erupting Fuego Volcano, where glowing lava bursts light up the sky several times per hour. Enjoy a campfire, camping-style dinner, and incredible stargazing while sharing the moment with fellow travelers in an intimate group setting. - This tour is conducted in Spanish. Our guides are from a nearby local community and speak basic English to provide general instructions.
- Our offices are located outside Antigua, near the base of Acatenango Volcano.
- we’ll take you to our office for gear distribution and a brief orientation. Please follow all instructions carefully.
- Luggage can be stored free of charge at our office
- Dietary needs not guaranteed—bring your own meals if required.
- Basic restroom available (simple cabin)
- If no availability, an alternative date will be offered
- Bring: Rain jacket, Snacks, camera, sunglasses & sunscreen. Cold-weather clothing for near-freezing night-time temperatures at camp. Hiking boots or trekking shoes (no sandals). Personal toiletries and/or medications
- Weather changes quickly; be prepared for sun, cold, wind, and rain. Bring waterproof gear and keep belongings in plastic bags.
- Optional Fuego hike (3–5 hrs), not our service and at your own risk.
- During high season, such as Holy Week, the Flower Festival, or any other event that closes off the city, the meeting point will be outside Antigua, as no vehicles are allowed to enter.
- During the rainy season, weather conditions may include heavy rainfall, electrical storms, or unexpected obstacles such as fallen trees that could affect access to the volcano. In such cases, we may be required to reschedule the activity or cancel it for safety reasons.
