4 Day Tambopata Jungle Tour with Local Guide

We (myself and my 2 teenage daughters) were met at the airport and joined by 2 couples for the boat trip to the lodge. We then stayed together as a group of 7 for 3 days, then just us and our guide Tito for the final day. We built a really good rapport as a group even over that short time. Everything was really well organised and we were well informed of what came next and what to wear/bring at all stages. The food was excellent and very fresh. The pool proved a welcome relief, alongside a chilled beer. The break from the outside world (no Wi-Fi / internet) was actually refreshing and even restricted access to electricity and early lights out was fun. Our guide Tito was brilliant, so knowledgeable and his ability to imitate jungle wildlife noises often had us looking around in confusion. As someone with a fear of heights (and a fully ruptured IT Band, which affects my balance) getting on and off the boats and the canopy walk were challenging, but I was really well supported and felt safe at all points. So many amazing memories: my youngest catching a catfish, rowing across lake Sandoval at sunset, the animal chorus as we woke in the morning and of course the magnificent parrot clay lick!

Our guide Jesus was amazing, we loved his no nonsense, dry sense of humour. Having grown up in a remote area of the rainforest, there was nothing that he didn’t know about the animals, birds, native people and the trees and plants of the jungle. We all loved listening to his stories! We’ll remember this experience forever thanks to him! The lodge was lovely, basic and clean on a surface level. The beds were comfortable and the mosquito nets kept us safe when we slept. Our first room was next to the bananas trees that the bats had a party in all night long, and when we spoke to staff the next day they happily gave us a new room. Our first room had hot water, but the second had cold - not that we minded. The food at the lodge was brilliant - tasty, healthy and filling. We never went hungry. Only issues were that on the first day we were late getting picked up from our hotel - there were issues at the airport and bus station and the company didn’t communicate that with us until I reached out to ask what had happened to our driver. We were told at the office that we would visit a local farm on the morning of our final day but that didn’t happen. It seemed that the person in the office didn’t understand how the itineraries ran at the actual lodge. Other people had this problem too on their final morning. But overall, we loved all of the activities, the peaceful lodge, our guide Jesus, the brilliant people we met in our tour group and everything we saw and learnt about the Amazon. An amazing experience that we wish we could do again!

Hands down our favorite part of our 3 week Peru adventure. The entire staff was supportive and patient with our family’s accommodations (food allergies). Our guide Sergio was very knowledgeable and left us with an unforgettable experience that we’re all still talking about. This is the perfect experience for outdoor lovers who are looking for that little bit of extra immersion into Peruvian culture and connection to nature.

We had a fantastic time in the Amazon rainforest with Paradise. We did some very unique activities and made some great memories. Our guide Sergio was fantastic; he was extremely knowledgeable about everything related to the jungle, ranging from the insects and animals to the plants. He was very friendly and made our time here extra enjoyable.

We had an absolutely incredible experience on our 4-day Tambopata jungle tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our outstanding guide, Sergio Raymonti. Sergio’s knowledge of the rainforest is truly exceptional. His passion for the ecosystem shines through in everything he does—whether he’s pointing out elusive wildlife, explaining the medicinal uses of plants, or describing the intricate relationships within the jungle. We learned so much about the animals, plants, and overall biodiversity, and it made every excursion feel meaningful and fascinating. On top of that, his English is excellent, making it easy to follow along and ask questions, which really enhanced the whole experience. The entire team made the trip special. The kitchen staff were fantastic—every meal was delicious, and they went above and beyond to accommodate dietary requirements without ever making it feel like an inconvenience. It was clear they put a lot of care into what they prepared. We also want to give a big shoutout to the boat crew, who were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. They even managed to fit in an extra fishing outing for us when the boat was available, which was such a fun and memorable bonus. Overall, this was a truly unforgettable adventure, made all the better by Sergio and the amazing team supporting him. We couldn’t recommend this experience more highly!

Very fun and insane experience. Once in a lifetime! It was very hot and there were many bugs but you go into the trip expecting that. The activities were so fun and days were filled with things to do.

Would recommend! Our guide Victor was very knowledgeable and could answer every animal question we had. We saw so many amazing animals - sloth, macaws, monkeys, giant river otters… the food was AMAZING!!!! Pool was cleaned regularly and rooms were comfortable, thank you!

We had an amazing time at the Paradise lodge with our local tour guide from Puerto Maldonado, Borris. He made the trip extra special for us with his patience, care and knowledge of the jungle, the experience was so much more than we imagined. All of the activities/ trips was great, the lodge was so clean and with lots of friendly staff, we was super looked after there. We had lovely food everyday where they served us big portions daily to keep us fuelled. Thank you to all the team at Paradise. From the office staff, to everyone at the lodge, and our tour guide Borris :) we highly recommended this.

It was a top experience. We stayed 3 nights and 4 days in a fine lodge. The water is cold by European standards but not freezing. There was a lovely queen size bed and the further facilities were excellent on the logde. There was a breakfast every morning that started with a good portion of fruit. Followed by omelette or fried eggs and banana pancakes. In addition, juice coffee and bread with sweet toppings. Lunch consisted of a small starter and a hot meal with rice or potato. Dinner consisted of soup, hot main course and dessert. We found the food to be of very good quality and the portions were for big eaters like us certainly adequate. A big plus was the flexibility in doing the excursions and activities. For example, we were able to do certain activities twice because they appealed more to us and we had a better chance to see animals. In the end we did all the activities and because we did monkey’s island and cayman spotting 2x we also saw more animals, this was also our thing to do. During our stay we had two guides. Our first guide Luis was fantastic, very friendly, thinking along and helpful. He even ate with us and did board games with us. He was knowledgeable about the Amazon region spoke good English and was also working on a thesis in ecotourism. Our second guide Said was a good animal spotter and had a lot of experience his english was also good. However, he made a very uninterested impression. It seemed like he wasn't having any fun. Was not interested in the people who participated in the activities. On the excursion to Lake Sandoval we had to wait 45 minutes for the boat to arrive. Because of this we were later at the lake. Eventually we were back at the starting point an hour earlier than planned and we had to wait for the boat here for an hour. This was incomprehensible to us. We were there later than planned and now we left early. What might have played a role for the guide was that the place where we had to wait for the boat had internet and in the lodge where we stayed was not. During certain cruises or while fishing, he also sat with ears in videos watching about uninterested talk. In summary, this excursion is recommended. Herewith the caveat that you should not have Said as a guide. Also, 2 nights and 3 days is sufficient in our opinion because you can have done all the activities just fine.
