4-Day Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu & Panoramic Train

I highly recommend the TreXperience. Everything was well organised. Pick up times, transportation to the treck and a wonder train back. Our guide told us all the stories about the Inka sites, took photos of us and the group pictures, made sure that breakfast, lunch and dinner were on time. We can't forget the most important people, porters.. they were carrying all the bags, tents, food and many more for us for 4 days ! The treck is difficult at times but they were always in front making sure we food ready and place to rest. Moreover, Ramon our cook was excellent! One of our colleagues who we met during the trip had a birthday 🎂, he made him a wonderful cake .. what a skill to do it in the middle of nowhere 👏.

We had an amazing time. Pepe was our guide. He was so accommodating and such a nice person. You can tell he really knows a lot about the history and the nature of the trek we were on. He even organised a cake for my brothers 21st birthday! I would definitely recommend him as a guide!

I had an absolutely amazing time on this tour. Everything was so well organized and communicated from start to finish. Roger and Balbino were knowledgeable guides that adapted to what our group needed throughout the whole tour. We had Chef Santos and honestly some of the best food I had in Peru was during this tour. We were always well fed and given plenty of snacks/ tea/ coffee throughout the day. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Honestly couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough. The trek was the perfect amount of challenge, with the first day quite gentle to ease you into the hike and the altitude. The views are absolutely breathtaking each day, and finishing at Machu Picchu was really magical. The second day can be a bit tough but our guide’s Roger and Balbino were amazing and helped us take it at a pace that worked for the group. Roger really made it an unforgettable experience for us, and had such impressive knowledge of the Incas, and the local agriculture. The porters were absolutely amazing, getting to the lunch spots and camp quickly to get everything set up for our arrival. I was also so impressed by the food. Our chef, Santos prepared a huge variety of meals for us, with each breakfast, lunch and dinner having different options, plenty of food and so delicious.

Faultless. Excellent food from start to finish, all the Peruvian classics plus some western twists. Roger, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable, with an intimate connection to the history, flora and fauna of the area. His story, spanning over three days, covered the entire history of the incas from start to finish. It was engaging and interesting, delivered in both Spanish and English. The porters were incredible, carrying all our belongings plus lodgings and food, along the same trek we did. It's a once in a lifetime experience that cannot be missed.

We had a very disappointing experience with TreXperience's 4-Day Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu. One of the first disappointments was the group size. There were 18 people in our group, which was much larger than we had anticipated. For the price of the trek, we expected a much smaller group. In our view, 18 people is far too large for an experience that is marketed and priced as a unique experience guided trek. A group of this size also makes it difficult to enjoy the hike. Simple logistics, such as using the toilets during breaks, become slow and inconvenient. It is also much harder to have meaningful conversations with the guides, get to know the other hikers, or enjoy the more personal and connected experience that many people expect from a multi-day trek. During the trek, we faced an unexpected medical emergency. We quickly realized that the company did not have a clear protocol for handling serious medical situations or deciding the next steps. We had separated from the group and walked back the next morning (to Km82) seeking medical treatment. We are very grateful for the support of Nohe (the assistant guide) who was exceptional with his care and assistance through and through. Also we are thankful to Paulino (one of the porters), who helped us a lot with our gear. Unfortunately, we did not feel the same level of concern or support from the company. The illness turned out to be a severe Salmonella infection that required three days of hospitalization, making the lack of a proper response even more disappointing.

We had a fantastic experience with Nilton, our guide, and Oscar, our chef. The trip surpassed expectations: the views while you hike are spectacular, Nilton was patient, funny and attentive to all in our group. Our porters were amazing, the amount they carry is truly impressive. We had hot water and more than enough food at every meal. The chef, Oscar, even baked a cake on our final night! Accommodation is basic but that is expected; the tents and sleeping bags are well maintained and clean. The air mattresses are thin (we didn’t hire them) but again, it’s to be with limited space and the porters already carrying such heavy loads. The itinerary was adaptable; we changed campsites so the distances we walked on day 1 & 2 were slightly less It’s expensive, yes, but no more or less than any other company. We were lucky with a small group of 5 too, which made it an even friendlier and intimate setting. On our last night we stayed at the closest campsite to the checkpoint, so we arrived first and were therefore first to the Sun Gate. This wasn’t essential but it was special nonetheless. Hiking into Machu Picchu is a once in a lifetime experience, Nilton made it memorable and had lots of knowledge to share on our tour. I would highly recommend TreXperience and particularly Nil, he made our once in a lifetime experience even better.

We booked the extended Inca Trail because it perfectly matched our philosophy of taking the time to truly experience the journey rather than rushing to the destination. Our guide, Yovani, was outstanding. He took exceptional care of our group and always made sure everyone's needs were met. The entire porter team was incredibly hardworking, kind, and supportive, while our talented chef, Ramon, created truly amazing meals in the most remote locations—something that impressed us every single day. Thanks to the dedication of the whole team, our well-being and peace of mind were guaranteed throughout the trek. We are deeply grateful for their support, encouragement, and genuine hospitality along the Inca Trail. This journey to Machu Picchu with TreXperience will remain one of the best-organized trips we have ever experienced. We can wholeheartedly recommend this unforgettable adventure.
