Learn about the history of the Temple of Aphaia! It is one of the most significant temples in Greece. People have visited Aphaia since at least the Late Bronze Age/14th Century BCE. The Parthenon in Athens is based on this temple built on a hill surrounded by pine trees with stunning views on either side of the island.
A quaint hillside village, that has been inhabited since neolithic times, has been officially classified as a “traditional settlement”. Pachia Rachi is a haven for artists! The village takes one back in time to an older way of life, when bread was baked in outdoor ovens.
Visit this secluded valley scattered with centuries-old olive trees, some dating back 1,500 years, and remains of chapels. Walk amongst these impressive ancient olive trees that stand like natural monuments! One tree has a base that covers a surface of 30 sq.m.!
