The two guides were extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic with their job and it showed! I never knew there was so much to know about Sake.
Great experience! I was clueless about sale but learning about the history of it and the breweries was amazing. Also, learning how to read the labels on the bottle was very helpful as well. I now know to order sake by saying “Nihonshu” instead of just “sake” which means alcohol. We learned by saying this, it can confuse the servers.
Kiyomi and Nanase introduced us to Japanese sake, in an informative and personalized way, so cool! From learning how sake is made, purified to bottling always adding the local history. Ok and the tastings were so fun! Diaginjo please, no wait, make mine Junmai Ginjo! Thanks to our amazing guides!
This was one of the best experiences we had in Kyoto! The tour included so many sake tastings, giving us the opportunity to sample a wide variety of styles while learning about the brewing process and the different categories of sake. What I enjoyed most was how educational the tour was. I learned how to recognize the differences between sake styles, what makes each category unique, and, most importantly, discovered what I personally like and why. The explanations made tasting the sake much more meaningful and helped me appreciate the craftsmanship behind each one. The food pairings complemented the sake beautifully, and the guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. A thoughtful touch at the end of the tour was receiving a set of sake cheat cards that summarize the different categories and tasting notes. They are a fantastic reference and will make it much easier to choose sake with confidence in the future.
Mayo was fantastic! So much information and a great sense of humor- absolutely loved this experience! I learned so much
Mayo was awesome, her knowledge and charm filled the room. Rick
Absolutely excellent experience. I learned more about sake than I ever expected. If you ever wanted to demystify sake and know what you’re ordering and how to pair it with different food, this is the activity for you. The guides were excellent - friendly and knowledgeable. And answered all the questions we had.
Maayo was a fantastic tour guide, and the experience was amazing! My wife and I both left it with a better understanding of sake. We consider it an afternoon well-spent.
Guides were very knowledgable, gave a lot of context to the drinks and items on display. The brewery itself is interesting and steeped in history with some very nice drinks to sample along with food pairings available to try at the tasting session following the tour. There is also a shop at the front of the museum selling their drinks at very competitive prices.
Momoko was incredibly knowledgeable and more importantly, such a great educator! We learned tons and this was our favorite experience in Japan so far.
