A chance to experience village life and traditions at a leisurely pace

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience, just a few tweaks would have made it even better.... Riding on scooters is a great way to get around & take in the surroundings. Our drivers were skilled and very safe. However long distances are covered (120km) so some may find this uncomfortable and cold in the winter months. Cycling is gentle and easy terrain. Enjoyed the fabric dying demo & dancing was an unexpected bonus. The cave was a hidden gem & hot springs a delight on a cold wet day in February! Our guide was very attentive and keen to ensure we were happy, stopping frequently and whenever we wanted to take in the scenery & he explained everything well We were there just after Tet, so the chopstick factory was closed which was disappointing. Our homestay was lovely, "modern" clean & wonderful scenery. However we were initially given a small double room, despite booking a twin. When we questioned this we were given a lovely twin (2 king beds) with a balcony & more aligned to what we were expecting. No water was provided which is unusual and surprising. The food was fabulous, as it was at both of the homestays we had lunch at. We would have preferred to have eaten with the family rather than on our own. The food at the 2nd place for lunch was exceptionally good, although no drinks and the family made no effort to engage with us at all. The itinery was adjusted because of the weather, this was fine but it should be made clear before booking that this would happen. The last day should have been a 6.30am start, which would have been far too early anyway, 8.30 was much better, it would have been pitch black & there were very limited activities. The transport was organised well, punctusl and very comfortable, although a white knuckle ride there with lots of overtaking on blind bends, the return was far more relaxing! The programme should be seasonally adjusted to take into account the weather and festivals.
