Sapa three day tour

Tour did everything as described , local guide was very good. Be aware pick up point is out side travel agent office early in the morning and drop off about 9:00 pm unless your accomodation is within the old quarter then you can request pick up.Hotel accomodation was good ( great views) we did have some issues with our hotel booking , hotel was changed but we weren’t told but local guide sorted it very quickly. Would strongly recommend that you print a hard copy of any tour you book and don’t rely on the app only. We had a couple of issues about itinerary and when we went to show the guide the app had disappeared. Fortunately we had a hard copy and matter was quickly sorted.

relegated to the back row....

So we 4 people, aged 63 and 65 years, are the last to load. Young adults keep their captain's chairs and do not offer them to us who are well their senior. Our largest member did obtain the passenger front seat next to the driver. But the rest of us, weighing in at 120kg, 72kg, 60kg, were rather uncomfortable. Otherwise, the ride was picturesque, scenic, and lovely. We obtained service delivery to our booked accommodation. My recommendation, unless you and your party all fit in captain's chairs, go with the sleeper or lounging bus round trip. or take the train....

Operator response

Dear Mr/ Mrs JaJaJane, Thank you for choosing Sapa Tour - a Brand of CharmingVietnamTravel.com. We felt so sad that cannot receive your 5 star review. The problem is on that day, According to the customer's booking, some seats in the back row were book in advance so maybe you felt not comfortable when seating at the other row. From your feedback, I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour, the atmosphere in Sapa with our tour guide and our accommodation there. We do wish that our company will have another chance to accompany as well as assist you with your next trip to Vietnam. Warmest regards, Linda Customer Care Team of DragonFly Cruise. 1 good day out of the 3

The trip included only one real trekk through the rice fields on day 2 which was very good. In the free afternoon that day we went up to Fansipan. Our guide spoke good English. Also I suppose like with most tours we were on a schedule and there was barely time to take a photo before you have to start running after the guide. Day 1 was visiting flower gardens with few flowers and Day 3 was a walk through Cat Cat Village which is not authentic and consists of shops only. On days 1 and 3 we saw 0 rice paddies. Other than the schedule, the trip was nicely organised, the hotel was good with mountain view balcony, meals included were generous portions although pretty much the same set menu for most meals. The deluxe bus was a 7-seater to Sapa and 18 back to Hanoi (misleading tour photo) and as so many people had to be dropped off we were at the hotel at 9:45pm. We got a bottle of water and soft drink voucher in each direction which we appreciated.

SAPA

Below the expectation with the exception of the hiking on the second day. Nice rice pads but a bit difficult

The transport was ok except for unaccurate departure time - the driver was an hour late. The car itself is excellent. The ride back to Hanoi took 5.5 hours. The hotel was actually a guest house, but the food and service were great.
Only the 2nd day worth as cat cat and dragon mountain are over tour.

The 7 seater minivan was truly luxury, with soft padded leather seats, usb charing ports and free water. Thankfully we had some passengers who could translate for us, as our driver to Sapa spoke no english. The walks to visit the local villages were great. The guides spoke English and we were able to learn about local village life. The walk on the second day was longer than was advertised, 15km instead of 9km, but really beautiful country. It was an experience to be trekking up and down rice paddies. There were plenty of guides to assist you negotiating some of the trickier paths. Of course there was some pressure to buy items from them. The food provided at our accommodation, was amazing, we could never eat it all, but the quality was excellent. Being able to package the trip to Sapa, the village tours, and have some free time in Sapa was great.

This trip did not have a guide...

This trip did not have a guide available for the whole trip, which it could use. On the bus were a number of clients on different trips of different durations, staying at different hotels in Sapa. I was dropped off on a Sapa street, and was given verbal instructions on how to climb the stairs in a nearby alley, to a hotel, where i was given further instructions on the location of my actual hotel. The hotel front desk staff had information on each of my day hikes, which had a different guide for each day. Hotel and restaurant was fine for a three star quality establishment, as I was not expecting Inter-Continental standards in a remote mountainous community. Treks each day were challenging, scenery was outstanding, and interacting with the tribal people in their communities was very interesting. People should be aware of the altitude and cool climate in Sapa when coming from the tropical lowlands. On the return to Hanoi another client and I were dropped off at a downtown street, and was given money by our guide to hail a taxi to return to our hotel. then left on our own. More effort should be given by Viator to provide a central guide source for this multi-day trip, and to be returned to the hotel of the client. However, Sapa should not be missed when visiting Vietnam, and overall the tour experience was very positive.
