Itinerary
Let's start from the oldest point of the city, the Roman arches of Pons Lepidis! Let's discover its history from the Neolithic to today, seeing centuries-old finds and photographs of the rediscovery of the forgotten bridge!
First only river pebbles, then large buildings and finally the bombings: with historical images in hand we will discover the changes in the square that has been the scene of the city's market since 1287! This will be followed by the first culinary stop in honor of the river from which it all originated: herb cake await you!
La Pilotta, what a marvel! Immense and beautiful, we will stop in the courtyard to observe the scars of the wars, the Renaissance arches where the Basque Pelota was played, the columns that have become trees and the Verdi Monument with its incredible history! Here’s the second culinary stop...la Spalla Cotta!
First the square, with its history full of unexpected traditions, then we will stop our gaze on the facade of the Cathedral: try to guess what must have been there...and isn't there! We will discover the political meanings of shapes and sculptures and enter the Cathedral to be speechless in front of the frescoes of the central nave! And then off you go, down the steps to admire Correggio’s masterpiece (the dome) and find out why it caused such a stir... that it scandalized citizens! On the way out, third culinary stop: Parmesan!
The Brick of Parma, an ancient measure, inaugurates the exploration of the largest square in the city! Our gaze will turn 360 degrees and we will see the Governor's Palace (and its muggings), the medieval Town Hall, the Portici, we will guess where the old civic tower was, we will say goodbye to the statue of Correggio and we will close our tour with the fourth gastronomic stop: Walking anolini!

My partner and I enjoyed our private tour with Federico. We loved his personality, which came through in his enthusiastic description of the various places we visited. We especially appreciated that he took us to sites we would not have seen otherwise (e.g. the underground Roman bridge arches). We also liked learning about how parmiggianno cheese is made, which came as a bit of a surprise. The only reason I did not give five stars is that the tour is on the expensive side. The premium price is no doubt driven by the addition of food samples, but these would have been a minimal expense. And since we booked a trip that was not expected (or marketed) to be just the two of us, I do not believe the price was driven by the fact that it ended up being just the two of us.
Our guide was Guilia, she was wonderful. History excited her, and in turn, it excited us. We visited hidden gems like the support of a Roman bridge, and also learned a great deal about Parme and the people here. I couldn't recommend Guilia or the tour more.
Giulia’s energy, deep knowledge of art history, and her love of Parma made a cold, rainy day into a warm and bright experience. We’re very happy that we booked this tour.
Learning where Caesar allegedly died, the delicious food and Marco’s knowledge of history and food. I especially enjoyed the potatoe pizza
Despite the challenge of a rainy afternoon, Giullia took my husband and I on cleverly organized, interesting and inspiring walking tour. The culinary treats along the way were delicious and appreciated. Her advice for eating spots and cheese shopping - superb!
We learned a great deal about Parma history, culture and food from the excellent tour provided by Guiglia. She included samples of typical foods and their cultural significance. We highly recommend this tour.
Care in explaining clearly the phases of the pasteurization process and the passionate experience conveyed.
Lorenzo was called in when our initial guide was unwell. He was worried about doing this tour in English but he was amazing. I had wandered around Parma having done a fair bit of research but Lorenzo explained the history and the city with passion and knowledge that made it all come alive. He changed my view of the city.
I can highly recommend this guided culinary walking tour of Parma! Giulia is an excellent tour guide as she is so friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about her hometown of Parma and its history and traditions. During this tour I learned about the history of Parma since Roman times, ate some excellent local food specialities and saw incredible landmarks including the Pilotta Palace, the market and Parma cathedral (Duomo). I also found the tour was very reasonably priced considering how enjoyable it was and how much was included. Thank you very much / Grazie mille, Giulia!
Giulia was really great, she has such passion for her culture and food in Parma, she wanted to share her knowledge with us which made the tour very personal. We had a really wonderful experience.
