Great guide

Great guide-Johny was friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to relate indigenous stories, explain the geologic history of the area and the continent, summarize the relevant history of pioneered, settlement, indigenous peoples interactions with settlers and much more. Not to mention flora and fauna. All that and a pleasure to be around. Great guide

Operator response

Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear that Johny provided such a memorable and enriching experience. His passion for sharing the area's rich history, indigenous stories, and natural beauty truly shines through, and we're glad it made a positive impact on your visit. We'll be sure to pass along your compliments to him. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back for more adventures in the future!

Great 2-day tour option for Ayer's Rock (Uluru) out of Perth/Alice Springs

Due to available non-stop flights, this 2-day tour out of Alice Springs is a terrific way to get to and tour Uluru/Kata-Tjuta if you are starting in Perth. Our guide, Libby, did a terrific job juggling all the needs of the group and providing historical aboriginal information. She got us to all the locations/stops promised without incident. The Uluru hike is a more like a stroll but gives you a good chance to study Uluru and take pictures. Kata-Tjuta is the opposite, a difficult hike, with not much chance to study the rocks because you are watching your feet and no pictures because the Aboriginals consider it a sacred site (so you will have to rely on your memory for the experience rather that have a few photos, which too me is overkill by the overseers, but it is what it is). Because of the ever-present pesky flies during the day, you absolutely need to bring or buy a face net at the first stop. The Uluru campground has good toilet and shower facilities (8 minute walk from your tent/swag) but you need your own towel/soap. If you are in a tent, you should opt for the sleeping bag ($40 upcharge), especially in the winter months). The food offered at the campground is OK, but fills you up, and that's really not what this tour is about anyway. The sunset and sunrise experiences on this tour are memorable; my wife and I are glad we did it.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your 2-day tour out of Alice Springs to Uluru and Kata-Tjuta! It sounds like a fantastic experience, especially with Libby as a guide who managed everything well and provided insightful information. The description of the Uluru hike as a stroll and the more challenging Kata-Tjuta hike, along with the cultural considerations, gives a great picture of what to expect. Bringing a face net for the flies and choosing a sleeping bag for comfort are helpful tips. It’s wonderful to hear that the sunrise and sunset moments were memorable and that you and your wife enjoyed the tour overall!

Awesome time

Such a fun experience! Seeing Uluru for sunset and sunrise was really special. I especially loved the hike in Kata Tjuta. There are no pictures allowed there so not as many tourists know about it but it was incredible. Our guide Lea was really fun and knowledgeable. She ran a super well organized trip with everything from the pick up, meals, walks, moving around going very smoothly. Camping under the stars was especially great!

Operator response

Thank you so much! We're thrilled you had such a fun and memorable escape to the Red Centre. Lea will be delighted to hear your kind words. She loves making every detail run smoothly.

Go to Uluru but NOT with this guide.

My husband and I were so excited for our trip to Uluru. We are both teachers and have had the opportunity to travel and take tours around the world. I could only say that this is the worst tour we have taken. Deon did not provide any new information and often provided incorrect facts. Although Deon did talk about his current job, helping indigenous male youth, he did not talk about the indigenous culture or the formation we traveled so far to see. It seemed very obvious that this was a side job for Deon. I learned more accidentally overhearing another tour guide talking to their group for 10 minutes than what Deon shared on all the tour. This is probably due to the fact that Deon did not accompany us on the walk around Uluru, the centre, and only did one little discussion later. He stated that he wanted to talk to some mates about a football game that he had lost in a different tribe instead of walking with the tour around Uluru. In addition to this, Deon often was condescending to the group. For example multiple times referring to us as "ants" whose meaning became clear as he referred to other tourists later scurrying around as "ants" also. I felt unsafe with him driving as he was on his phone texting quite often as well as to taking two personal phone calls for extended period. (Deon was on his phone finding Australia music also.) I am very happy I came to this amazing place and had the opportunity to see the area! I would NOT book from this company as the tour guide, Deon, was way below expectation.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, we're truly sorry to hear that the experience didn’t live up to your expectations. It’s deeply disappointing to know you felt let down. Please know your feedback is being taken seriously. We'll be passing this along to our operations team to review thoroughly and to ensure the necessary steps are taken to address these concerns with the guide in question. We appreciate you letting us know and giving us the opportunity to improve.
