Itinerary
First, we're going to visit Shinjuku 3-chrome, where you can experience Authentic local teppanyaki restaurants and you'll make your own "Okonomiyaki", and "Monja-yaki." Enjoy the delicious food and drinks while mingling with the friendly locals. This is a great way to discover the real old-town Tokyo nightlife.
Next, we're heading to Omoide Yokocho. This narrow alleyway is packed with over 60 tiny bars and restaurants, serving delicious Yakitori, Motsuyaki, and other local specialties. You can enjoy the warm and friendly vibe of the place, chat with the locals, and taste a variety of drinks, from Sake and Shochu to beer and whiskey. This hidden gem will make your Tokyo trip unforgettable.
We visited a vibrant Japanese arcade where both kids and adults can have a blast! From playing Taiko Drum Master snapping fun photos in Purikura booths, racing in Mario Kart, to experiencing the thrill of Wangan car racing — it was the perfect place to enjoy Japan’s playful side together. (You get to chose one from the experiences above)
Shinjuku Golden Gai is a unique drinking district in Tokyo’s Shinjuku ward. It has over 200 tiny bars packed in narrow alleys, each with its own personality and theme. (only applicable when time permits)
After the arcade, we headed to a place where adults can enjoy Japanese sake tasting — with selections from different regions across Japan — while kids (and grown-ups too!) can have fun at the all-you-can-eat Japanese snack bar. It’s a great spot where everyone, no matter the age, can enjoy something special.

Akira showed us around a lively Shinjuku on a Friday night and brought us to some local spots that we would have never found as a tourist. First stop was Okonomayaki and manja. Second was an izikaya located on the 5th floor with lots of items on sticks, third was a unique snack bar that was chosen for our teen. Akira was a great guide, friendly and enthusiastic. My teen mentioned that it felt more like hanging out with a friend and hitting up food spots vs an organized formal tour, so a definite endorsement from my teen!

We booked this private food tour for our family, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip to Japan. Akari was much more than a guide. From the moment we met, she made us feel welcome, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. Traveling with three daughters can sometimes make group activities challenging, but Akari connected so naturally with all of us that it felt less like a tour and more like spending an evening with a friend. The food was delicious, the places she chose were authentic and interesting, and we learned so much about Tokyo, Japanese culture, and everyday life that we would never have discovered on our own. What made the experience truly special was the atmosphere she created warm, personal, and full of laughter. By the end of the evening, we felt as though we had been welcomed into a local family’s world rather than simply guided through a neighborhood. If you are visiting Tokyo as a family and want something more meaningful than a typical sightseeing activity, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Kosuke was a wonderful guide. He was charming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed his company, very much. He was very responsive to our questions and participated in conversation which he used to adapt to whae he thought we'd like. He was correct each time. He had a blast on this tour.

Ikuto was an awesome guide! He was a great communicator, was incredibly engaging and helpful, and was delightful to talk with. He answered all our questions about Japanese culture, and he was focused on ensuring we were comfortable and having a nice time. We really enjoyed trying typical Japanese dishes and visiting restaurants that we would never have found on our own. It was also really interesting to be in the Shinjuku district in the evening - lots of activity and sights
