The day went by quickly and we covered quite a bit. the guide (Massa) was delightful. She was quite knowledgeable and personalized what we learned. Otherwise it would have facts from a text book. The only gripe I have is that we should have spent more time in Shirakawa-go and less in Takayama. Although the architecture of the buildings in Takayama is quite interesting they are essentially filled with shops or places to get food.
Pick up time perfect the instructions were to meet easy to find .Masa and the driver were wonderful so experienced and Masa had very good English and made sure we enjoyed our day out .
The guide & driver were very kind and knowledgeable. Both towns very interesting in different ways. I highly recommend this tour as a day trip from Kanazawa. The ramen lunch in Takayama was delicious. An improvement would be clearer joining instructions. Kanazawa station is fairly big so specify the gate and location outside the tourist information office, we walked all around looking for where the meeting point might be.
An amazing way to spend your day. The host Hiroko was one of the best hosts I've ever travelled with and she gave us a lot of information about the places we visited.
This is the first negative review I've written but this trip was extremely disappointing. While the transportation made it easy to see both towns- which were lovely- we learned nothing from our guide. The trip includes several hours of driving which were silent. No information about history or culture was shared. Upon arrival, we saw points of interest but with minimal explanation We had hoped to learn much more than we did. We went on two marvelous tours in Tokyo, but this was frustrating. We would have left the tour if we were not hours from our starting point

Extremely disappointed with JTB Sunrise Tours. Very poor and disappointing customer service. Do not recommend them at all. Exact same tour is provided by White Ring tours. I would go with them. Great tour, great customer service, plus honest and ethical.

Amazing experience with wonderful Hiro as our guide. Hiro is knowledgeable and informative, and provided us with everything we wanted to know about Shirakawago and Takayama, plus anything else we asked about. Shirakawago was beautiful and such an interesting place to visit. It was different from any other area in Japan we visited, and the mountainous views are breathtaking. Takayama has such a rich history and really interesting museums. The festival floats are absolutely stunning. The driving experience was pleasant, clean, and safe.
I had a lovely day with Mariko today. She was such a wonderful guide, sharing her knowledge and experience. There were three of us on the tour today. She made sure we had plenty of time at the various sites and accommodated our requests. Also, Mr Yamagishi, our driver, was great too, showing great care for us. The views on the way to Shirakawago were stunning and the site itself is beautiful. Our early arrival made the vist more enjoyable as there were less people. It was also interesting to visit the exhibition hall on the way to Takayama centre. There was just the right amount of time in Takayama to shop and eat. I would highly recommend this tour.
A fun filled day combined with the breath taking landscapes. A trip that we will mostly resonate because of the best guide, one could ever get - Mariko san.
it was an enjoyable day trip, if more time allocated for both areas would be perfect. As both areas were full of tourist as queuing takes up a bit of time. Our guide Ms Masaiyo S. was friendly and provided information throughout the trip. The long drive was safe and smooth throughout the day (snowing conditions).
