This monument commemorates the fighters and civilians affected by the conflict and serves as a reminder of the region’s recent and complex history. Your guide will explain the background of the conflict, its causes, and its impact on everyday life in Transnistria and Moldova, helping bring this important period of history to life.
Transnistria Tour – A Rare Journey into a Soviet-Era Enclave Discover one of Europe’s most unusual destinations on this unforgettable journey to Transnistria, a breakaway republic in eastern Moldova where Soviet values, symbols, and traditions are still very much alive. Separated from Moldova since 1992 and unrecognized by the international community, Transnistria offers a rare glimpse into a world that feels frozen in time. Travel from Chișinău to the region’s main cities, Tiraspol and Bender, where wide boulevards, Lenin statues, Soviet architecture, and memorials tell the story of a complex and ongoing struggle for identity and independence.
Green Market Stop – Tiraspol We make a stop at the local Green Market, one of Tiraspol’s city landmarks and among the most comfortable and well-equipped markets in the region. Here you will have the opportunity to taste local Transnistrian products, including traditional cheese, fresh vegetables, and homemade pickles. The Green Market has a history of over 220 years. While its infrastructure has changed significantly over time, it remains an important part of everyday life in Tiraspol. Today, it is a lively place where locals shop daily and visitors can experience authentic flavours and local culture.
Across from the central square, see a Soviet T-34 tank and monuments commemorating World War II, the Soviet war in Afghanistan, and the Transnistria conflict. Stroll along 25th October Street to view the columned House of Soviets and Lenin’s imposing bust.
Bender Fortress is an architectural ensemble of an irregular quadrilateral plan, surrounded by wide walls, 2-3 meters thick, made of limestone and brick. It was very good, the guide Diana was super enthusiastic, she showed us as much as possible.
The guide's explanation was relative and polite. The driver was also a fun person and added to the atmosphere. I thought Translistonia was a nice, peaceful place, politically speaking. At the market we stopped by, we also sampled delicious pickles and dried prunes stuffed with walnuts. The last fortress we visited was also a learning experience for history and a fortune (?)I also enjoyed chocolates with

I went on this tour in Transnistria and the overall experience was very positive. The departure was a slight delay, but considering there were other people to load before me, I found it understandable. Natalia, the guide, seemed prepared and passionate about her work, an aspect that I really appreciated because it made the explanations engaging and empathetic. During the tour we visited different areas of Transnistria and I found the historical and cultural insights on both Moldova and Transnistria very interesting. On the way back we visited the Mimi Castle with wine tasting, which I personally liked a lot. The contrast between the atmosphere of Transnistria and Mimi’s well-kept and elegant environment was, for me, a very interesting aspect. I also liked the driver, always available and attentive. Overall it was an experience I enjoyed and would recommend. Thanks again to Natalia and the team.

Loved seeing this unique part of the world! I enjoyed the Дом книгов bookstore, the Снова в СССР restaurant, and the Bender Fortress. This trip checked all my bucket list souvenirs: Pridniestrovian rubles, an old book in Moldovan cyrillic, and some Soviet memorabilia pins. Our guide Marcel was so smart and helpful! He tailored the tour to our interests, and helped us through things like the border crossing and currency exchange which would have been difficult or scary on our own. Marcel knew where to go, facilitated interactions with residents, and provided history and context for our tour. I'd love to go again!

First stop in Bender, monument before castle, should be discussed quicker as then at the end of the day we had not enought time for Tiraspol, but generally whole trip was unique, interesting and safe. Good occasion to see sentiments towards soviet union in the country aspiring to enter UE.
🙏thank you
