This day around Fort Portal became one of the surprises of our trip through Uganda. We explored the green surroundings with its crater lakes, rainforests, tea and banana plantations and small villages. Although we thought beforehand we would hike more, the combination of driving and short walks proved ideal to discover this vast area. The landscape is truly beautiful: behind every bend a new view appears. Green hills, hidden paradises, volcanic crater lakes and impressive nature make this region particularly varied. We hiked to Mahoma Falls via an adventurous path with wooden ladders and tree roots and enjoyed a refreshing shower under the falling water. At Lake Nkuruba we saw black and white frilled monkeys and took a dip in the deep, brightly surrounded crater lake. The view from “Top of the World” over the crater lakes, Kibale National Park and the Rwenzori mountains was breathtaking. In addition to nature, the local culture was also central. We were introduced to daily life in the villages, visited a craft market where local women showed their beautiful handmade products and even got to dance along to their traditional dances. Jurgen unexpectedly turned out to be a real star. 😉 A culinary highlight was lunch at a local restaurant. We tasted typical Ugandan dishes such as matoke, sweet potato, pumpkin, cocoyam, peanut sauce and a delicious fish stew. Even the doubters at the table were convinced afterwards! Finally, we visited a banana plantation. The “Banana Man” talked about making banana juice, banana beer and banana gin in an enthusiastic and funny way. A fun, authentic experience where you see how much work is behind local products. We may not have seen chimpanzees, but this day proved that travel is not always about the familiar highlights. Sometimes it is precisely the unexpected encounters, beautiful landscapes and local stories that make an experience unforgettable. An absolute must for those who want to discover Fort Portal in a calm and authentic way.
Awesome guys, they arranged the chimpanzee permits and logistics for me and I got to view lots of chimpanzee behavior up close after tracking them in Kibale NP
We booked a one-day adventure to Kibale National Park to track chimpanzees with Trek Rwenzori, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Emma met us at our hostel, clearly explained everything, and arranged all the permits for us, which made the whole process stress-free. The next day, we were picked up and driven to the forest. The chimp tracking was absolutely amazing, everything went exactly as we had hoped. We also joined a two-day tour and safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, which exceeded all our expectations. The van was comfortable, and the open roof gave us perfect views of the wildlife. Emma was knowledgeable and clearly experienced, we saw all the animals we were hoping for, while also learning so much about them along the way. And don’t expect a quiet ride! Our conversations with Emma were fun, engaging, and full of laughter throughout the trip, which made the journey even more enjoyable. If you’re still unsure about booking a tour, don’t hesitate. This was an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Emma!
This is genuinely one of the finest travel companies I have dealt with in Uganda. Emma stands out for his professionalism, responsiveness, and sincere dedication to making every detail right. I booked a chimpanzee tracking excursion through him and ran into an unexpected visa complication just before departure. Rather than brushing it off, Emma took immediate action. He initially connected me with a visa specialist, and when that route didn’t yield a response, he personally contacted the Ugandan embassy to request that my application be expedited. Shortly after his intervention, my visa was approved. His level of commitment ensured that my trip went ahead without disruption. The chimpanzee tracking experience was extraordinary — easily among the most memorable adventures I have had, not only in Uganda but anywhere in the world. I also completed a gorilla trekking experience, which was remarkable in its own right, yet the chimpanzee encounter was truly exceptional. If you are planning a visit to Uganda or considering booking through Emma, I would strongly encourage you to proceed with confidence. The service is first-class, the experience is outstanding, and I would recommend them without hesitation. Very highly recommended.
I actually did 3 tours frkm Fort Portal with this company. - Sempaya Hot Spring - Queen Elizabeth National Park - Chimpanzee Habituation Emmanuel was my guide during all 3 days. I thoroughly enjoyed fantastic time with his guiding. Saw lots of beautiful animals during Safari and observed wild Chimpanzees during Habituation tours. During Sempaya tour, I got to cook eggs and green bananas in the hot water, learned the stories about the origin of the hot springs, and enjoyed a good walk by the waterfall, caves, and caldera.
We did two tours with Emmanuel. On the one hand the Chimpanzee Tracking and the Rwenzori Mountain Lower Ranges Day Hike. We liked both very much. Emmanuel took care of the Chimpanzee Permits, picked us up from the hotel and then brought us back. During the hike, delicious "rolex", bananas and water were taken care of as lunch. We were very pleased.
Excellent service from Emma to see the chimps in Kibale NP and the gorillas in Bwindi. An unforgettable memory to see these primates in their natural habitat from so close up. Thank you!
Thank you Victor, for allowing us organize your Gorillas and Chimpanzees trip. We can't wait to have again in Uganda.
It was a very nice Adventure. We saw a lot of chimpanzees. We will never forget this trip. The tour was awesome. Gladly again. Thank you!
Thank you so much Kantharina for allowing us organize your Chimpanzee tracking trip. Thank you for Choosing Trek Rwenzori Tours, we hope to meet you soon again.
The tour operator was not straight forward with charges. Sent a message that the permit cost had gone up and wanted additional funds. I was prepared to pay this. When I reached there he had a higher quote than previously mentioned that had to be payed before we could start the trip
Fantastic experience with the Chimps Emma helped us throughout the booking process and was genuine. Definitely recommend this company as well as to support a local business that is hard working and honest.
Dear Steven, thank you so for this great review and thank you for choosing us.
